Anyone building an engine before you get the car.

Just wondering if anyone is going to build some type of crazy engine after they find out what its going to come with. That way you woul dhave a engine to drop right in the day you get it.

I'd do it... mostly because I was probably going to be the one fixing things on any car I buy, anyway, so why buy the extended warranty or worry with a warranty... build what you want and when you get the car, drop the powerplant in and mothball the original one... you'll always have it as a backup engine.

Well Im not a gear head...I have to pay people to work on my cars! Althought we know GM has spared no expense to making this car the best they can...inherently there could be problems with the first few of the line! (PLEASE don't send the burbs) And I'm not willing to pay for it myself...And IM HOPING gm makes this a 10yr 100k warrenty car!

Yea, but then there goes the awesome handling that the IRS affords you

As for me, only simple mods...exhaust, intake, LT headers, and well...we'll see with what the aftermarket comes up with for performance upgrades to the car

Same here, simple mods. Hope it is going to be easy to work on.

Because of the crappy hippies here in California, I'll be limited to these kinds of upgrades, minus the long tubes. I might get shorties, just to say I have headers, but I'm hoping that there will be a supercharged model so I can just pulley up, dyno tune it, intake, catback, and call it good. I want to keep the warranty and am crossing my fingers for performance upgrades from GMPP, so I'm hoping to be able to find these parts from GM, keep the warranty, and make some more power.

I would like it to be easy to work on, but I think I'm not going to spend as much time under the hood as my last two 4th Gens. Let's face it; these cars don't need a lot of up-keep under the hood, so unless you are doing a lot of changes or upgrades, accessablility won't be too big an issue for me. It would be nice though

I'll keep the motor relatively stock until the warranty runs out. Then it's swapping time.
