Noticing a Lot of Base LSs at Dealers Lately

Was at Rick Hendrick today and they had about 5 base LSs that had just arrived at the back of the dealership. Several had 6speed manuals. 1 was an IOM and a couple were autos.
Noticed that V6s are now selling more than V8s, so are the majority of
Camaros now going to be low or no option V6s?
Is this what the average guy or gal is comfortable paying for, a $23K car?
It must be the right price point.
There was also an SS there with a $39K sticker.
GM must be making an absolute killing on the Camaro.

When I got my LS, I did not consider it low option. Low option today is high end option a few years ago. What more do I need? It is affordable good performance, fun to drive, and unless you are a C5 expert, most people can't tell the difference between an LS and an SS. I don't need halos, HID or fogs in Phoenix. Don't want leather seats in a 115 degree summer. SS would be nice, but at what price difference? I could buy a second car, a Honda for that difference, and have my 40 mpg grocery getter.

This is a good topic. From my understanding, GM did not expect the HUGE demand for the 2SS at all, So now that it's starting to even out you'll see more V6 Camaros sold than the V8's. Until the Z28 comes out, and then it starts all over again...

LS is a great car, affordable, easy to drive and it's very stylish. I have a feeling that this is going to be a very popular vehicle in the next year or so.

Base LS, as opposed to fully loaded LS? Lol sorry, had to point that out.

I do believe that the wave of heavy enthusiasts that wanted the SS has died down and now we will see everyone else buy the v6 for the looks.

I dont look at car dealer lots much or care what they sell. I have what I want (2SS/RS) so what does it matter if the dealer wants to sell more LS? With economic times as they are ...this is rather expected.

The Chevy dealer near me has five Camaros on the lot. One is a SS2 M6 and the rest are LS with automatics. It's easy to see the trend they are expecting. The SS is red with white stripes...very nice!

My local dealer just sold the only other LS they have had on their lot since the Camaro came out, and I specifically ordered mine. I guess the trend is moving a little slower out here.

The LS does look pretty cool now that I have seen more of them around. Im just not a fan of the heritage rims, which a lot of others seem to like. I just felt the price of an SS was a little high for my taste. But the 6 is still plenty of power, great for a DD as in my case, and looks just as fierce as the SS... so why not go with the LS/LT models. Unless you really need all that power of the SS or race your car, legally, the LS/LT is plenty for the price. I love my LT

I bought my LS because it was affordable to me and I too didn't feel the need for all the bells and whistles the SS came with (which in my opinion wasn't much for the cost). I wanted the better fuel mileage but I must say I really did want the halos and fogs. But from joining this informative forum I find out I can get them installed after market. Saved me a few thousand dollars. My hubby tried to convince me to get the SS by reminding me that I said I was tired of always buying the bottom of the line model for every car I've purchased. Had a basic Eclipse and basic Sentra. I told him while the LS maybe a V6 I hardly considered it basic so I went with it.

I hate those rims too and first chance I get they are coming off.

The chevy dealer on the corner here all they have are LS's and LT's left no SS's. Only bad thing none of them are the lower cost ones. They added all the bells and whistles to them (stripes, gauges, etc etc)

Last week when I was at my local dealer, they had 8 LS's! They only had one SS and it was a red 2SS auto
