FUEL MANAGEMENT AND WIERD SOUND OF EXHAUST
I OWN A 2010 CAMARO SS , V8 L99 ENGINE, AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, WE ONLY CUT THE REAR MUFFLER AND REPLACED FOR A STRAIGHT TUBE JUST TO MAKE MORE MUSCLE CAR SOUND. THE PROBLEM IS WHEN THE CAR GOES IN 4 CILINDER MODE (AFM)_MAKES AND UGLY NOISE WITH VIBRATION. THERE IS ANY WAY TO FIX THIS? I READ THAT GM DOESN'T OFFER A FIX, HAVE ANY OF YOU HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT THIS?

Seriously, what's with people and the Caps Lock button?
And no, haven't heard of this before. |

Just talked to GM engineers about this yesterday. They need lots of exhaust volume area to deadend the 4 cylinder sound. Guess what you cut out your mufflers and just got rid of a lot of volume area.
There will be no fix for that from GM. |

Scott is right about the mufflers.
Or, you can go to M in sport mode and paddle shift which will affect your mileage a little.

I don't get it. the new Hemi has a fuel management system, and it doesn't have any of the problems this Camaro has. I own both, made the same changes to both cars. the hemi improved, no hesitation, no noises. the hemi fuel management doesn't kick in until you reach criusing speeds. This should be an easy fix for Gm.

I have this same problem. If you barely get on it no matter what gear as long as it is around a grand you get exhaust drone. I took it to a dealer and they have a bulletin put out on it. They told me the same thing as some of the other posts. That it is in fact the AFM System. That if you put it into M that it will eliminate the noise. The thing that is irritating me is that you shouldn't have to in order to solve the problem. They said that there isn't a fix for it, although it isn't hurting anything. Anyone else come across a solution for this other that driving in M?

Just keep your foot in it all the time, then you'll never hear it.

Yeah see that is the thing... There are ways around the problem. There is no denying that. The thing is that there shouldn't be a problem to begin with. There is no solution to fixing the actual problem besides covering it up or avoiding it.

Program and set it to deactivate below 55mph (stock it is set at 9mph). Works like a charm and still get good gas mileage on the highway
