How often do you use TapShift
Hey Guys,
Just wondering those of you with L99, how often do you actually use TapShift ? I use it all the time because I think its more fun but I've heard people never use it. Just wondering what you guys thought of it. |

I ordered my C6 Corvette with the auto with paddle shift. Big mistake. I always got manuals before, but thought this sounded nice.
It is just another way to shift an auto transmission, and nothing like the tiptronic Porsche transmission. If you like automatics anyway, no problem, but if you think that this will approach the fun and versatility of a manual, run away fast. |

I tried it once. Found it distracting and haven't used it since. I had the same paddle-shift in my C6 and never really used that either. It's just not the same as a true manual-shift car. I've had several manual trans cars in the past but decided to go the auto route on the Camaro. It shifts just fine on it's own.

Tap Shift & AFM
I used to use it to turn off the AFM, but now I don't even bother using it at all and AFM doesn't bother me anymore.

I use it when I want to feel 400+ boss ponies every now and then. I would say at least once a day on the expressway!! I like the pickup from 1st to 2nd then to 3rd. Seems a little quicker than taking off in auto. trans.

I'm not totally useless..

Every time I drive it. I use it exclusively. Lately at stop lights I will switch to S mode for fun if I have open road. It seems to shift harder in S than M when on the gas hard.

Only tried it a couple of times, found it very non-intuitive, especially when turning the wheel. Hard to find the up-shift button when it has rotated to the 8 o'clock position in mid-turn.
I agree with the statement above, it is nothing like having a manual transmission.
