NHTSA recently issued a final rule to incorporate a dynamic pole test into
FMVSS No. 214, “Side Impact Protection.” The rule will lead to the installation of
new technologies, such as side curtain air bags and torso side air bags, which are capable
of improving head and thorax protection to occupants of vehicles and that crash into
poles and trees and vehicles that are laterally struck by a higher vehicle. The phase-in
requirements for the side impact test are as shown below:

Phase-in Date Percent of each manufacturer’s light vehicles that must comply
during the production period
September 1, 2009

to August 31, 2010
20 percent (excluding vehicles GVWR > 8,500 lbs.)

September 1, 2010
to August 31, 2011
50 percent vehicles (excluding vehicles GVWR > 8,500 lbs.)

September 1, 2011
to August 31, 2012
75 percent vehicles (excluding vehicles GVWR > 8,500 lbs.)

September 1, 2012
to August 31, 2013
All vehicles including limited line vehicles, except vehicles with
GVWR > 8,500 lbs., alterers, and multi-stage manufacturers

NHTSA rated a 5 star crash test side image rating in 05-09 model for front seats and the front seats have side air bags. There still is no proof here showing the 2010 Mustang doesn't comply?

I don't know how we can really argue this without going into performance and handling aspects. The exterior and interior styling is extremely subjective and you can't argue someone into liking it.

I know we know who the winner is in terms of performance but I think in this case you either like the Mustang styling and want it more then you want the higher performance of the Camaro. Nothing wrong with that at all. I think both cars are REALLY good looking cars and I'd take either one gladly, but for pure performance I'd pick the SS.

Performance? Okay 400lbs+ in weight without the spare tire my mustang has is unneeded. Also, it has 96 more hp but still has a 4.8 0-60 speed and mine is 4.9. Now add some roush to this and what do you get?

I never said the Mustang was a slouch. I think they're great but obviously they're not performing on the same level as the SS or SRT8. I think they're doing DAMNED good for the engine they've got but I am talking about stock here.

You can buy the car and pay however much more and make it faster, or you can buy a different car for the same price and have it already be faster. This is just a situation where you prefer a certain aspect (e.g. you like Mustang's) over stock performance. Nothing wrong with it at all.

How much does doing the Roush thing cost?

Ah right. On the flip side lets get us some 6.2liter with a .1sec lead on that 4.6liter vehicle.

Technically thats incorrect the Mustang GT track outperforms the SRT8 and hangs within .2 seconds of the Camaro SS and has a better lateral G so its not really a slouch. In real world driving the average person wont even notice the difference

It doesn't matter where you get the power from, just how much you can make with it.

Didn't motor trend take care of this? The GT will kill the challenger, charger and tags along way too close on the 2010 Camaro for the 100hp gain it has.
