Launch Control.....

So ive had my 2010 SS for just under two months. After reading on this site and watching you tube videos i decided this morning it was time to just try it out for the sake of trying it out.

Followed every step, car in N, at a stop, press button twice, hit gas, floor clutch, shifted into first, and let it go, vroom vroom

Well for starters my revs were not at 4.8k they were going higher so i backed off because when i floored it they shot up to redline.

So i tryed it around 3k and my clutch literally stuck to the floor and a nice burnt clutch smell filled my cabin, would not release. So stopped the car and the clutch released and it drove fine from there.

Needless to say that was the first and last time i use that feature.

did i do anything wrong?

You also could not rev past 4k once the clutch got stuck?

Sooooooo...what is it exactly you're trying to do? If you're trying to do a burn out, then press and hold the T/C button down for 7-8 seconds. This will turn everything off and will not enable Competition Mode. You should then be able to do a burn out without any problems.

OP stated he was trying to utilize launch control, not do a burnout.

Ahh....re-read original post again.

To the OP...people on this site have groused about the feature for a couple of years now. Some have tried it out once, and never again. Don't think you did anything wrong, per se, other than trying to use. it.
Apparently there are a LOT of variables that come into play when using launch control (temperature, tires, road surface, etc.)

I do not have our car yet, so I have no experience with this function, but I remember watching this video:

You may have seen it, but thought it might help!

That man in the video looked terrified. And his car was going off the road for a min. They probably should have used someone more comfortable to do the test.

Maybe i did do it out of order. I was not trying to do a burn out i really just wanted to see what it was all about. I curiosity with this feature is pretty much over lol. I am going to the track soon and just wanted to try different things. So I decided to just try the launch today and see how it went.

Once the clutch got stuck honestly I have no idea i literally hit the breaks to stop any forward motion, honestly it was like the car had a mind of its own.

Anyways thanks fro the post fellas think i'm going to stick to Turing it all off! I've never owned a car with this so just wanted to try it...needless to say i failed.

I didn't know ya'll had launch control, that's cool.

What about the clutch, anyone think it's glazed and what to do about it. Might it continue to slip after that or be ok?

I'd bet that the order you did it in and the hesitation of the throttle is what made the system just go into a kind of clutch sh!%storm. Go out and give it another shot, with the correct order listed, and if you still don't like it... don't use it
