Accept Quirks. REALLY?! And Open Letter to GM

Hello I thought I would share my soap opera with you all here.
It all began in November when we bought our Silver Metallic 1ss/rs. We loved the car and wore our perma-grin with pride.
1 month into ownership I started noticing more and more brake dust coating the rims and down both sides of the car. So I went to the dealership and asked them to check it out just because. Not surprisingly they said there is no problem.
4 months into ownership now there is an intermittent squeak coming from the drivers side rear brake. So again I take it in. This time they said and I quote. "Could not replicate complaint. Rust build up. Rust removed." I took the car not more than 150 now its doing going down the road. Something I need to interject here, I wipe the car down everyday. So in doing so..there is NO BRAKE DUST DISTURBED on the rim. How in the heck can you inspect something without taking the rim off? So I called the dealership PO'ed they told me to bring it in and let a tech ride with me to show him the noise. So I do and it makes the noise. WOOHOO I'm not the crazy car owner they started to make me look like.
1 week later..Now not trusting this dealership at all I mark the pads and the rim alignment on the hub. Next morning I bring the car in. They replace the FRONT pads because GM has a TSB on them. I refer you to the lead in saying the back drivers side brake was the problem. SO when I pick up the car again...this time I get 20 miles and pull into a gas station and SQUEEEEEEEKKKKK.
Oh god I'm freaken livid!!! SO I called again..this time a rude woman puts me straight the no ones home voice mail...Oh no not this time, so I work my way up the chain...service person I deal with...voice mail, Service manager...voice mail, So I call the main phone line and ask to talk to the general manager..who I have a very good relationship with. I get his secretary and she said she'll have him call me once she pulls my file and tell him whats up. He did call and I told him everything. He's a nice guy and listened told me straight away the service manager will be calling in a few minutes. WHich he did..told him what was going on..he really didn't want to hear what was going on. TOld me to leave the car with him a few days. Thats fine as long as its fixed.
2 days later...the service manager wants to talk to me. So I go in. He proceeds to tell me they techs and GM techs have been talking back and forth and GM told them there is NO WAY to fix it. Then tells me this "You have a high performance car your going to have to except some quarks."
WHA?!?! I yelled so your saying I spend 36K dollars on something that has quarks?? I asked him point blank..So do tell CTS-V and Corvette owners they might have quarks they'll have to except? You know quarks are something like I don't get the gas mileage of the volt...or a huge viewing area..not a squeaking brake."
He ended by telling me they can't fix it.

So what do you guys think it is?? I think we can do just as well as these "trained" techs can.
and
Hey Scott did you know your car has quarks??

What's a quark?

I'm assuming they're not referring to the sub-atomic particles that make up electrons...

Exact same problem with my dealer, trying to fix a brake squeek and they just give me the run around and replace the front pads, 3 times so far, same exact squeek. Rotational without even applying the break while just driving around it goes squeek squeek squeek. I duplicated the noise for the tech and he couldn't even hear it when I could.

The truth is performance brakes do make noise. Get ceramic pads..or trade the car in.

Just turn the rotors, and put some quality aftermarket pads on it.

You lost me when you said you took it to them for excessive brake dust.

Change to ceramic pads.

Save yourself the headaches and change the pads to ceramics. It won't cost much and the dealer might even be willing to pay. The high performance pads CAN cause squeaking usually the pad change fixes it. Sometimes you just need to switch to a different pad material.

Brake noise is normal on those style of brakes. There are things that can be done but are you will to pay. Ps yelling gets you no where, and every car is different I am a tech and how you yelled I would not take care for you either. Cars these days are not a quick 5 min. Fix anymore get some patience and work with them. Are you perfect. On another note suggest turning the rotors and us some anti-squeal on the back of the pads also suggest taking the hard edge off the Pads as well. Good luck

Its unfortunate that customer service is such a low priority on GMs list, because the way the dealerships treat their customers is completely unacceptable.
