Questions Regarding ZL1 Transmission Upgrades
I was wondering what the best option for a tranny upgrade for the 2013 ZL1 that would hold around 1100rwhp, My build thread is here listing everything being done at this time.
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=425368 Thanks in advance |

I would just call and talk to them at RPM. If you tell them how you plan to use the car they will get you set up with something that will hold. If you drag race it and get that hard launch on race tires it really beats up the driveline. I don't know if the stock 6 speed can hold much more than 1000 whp if you drag race it.

Thanks for your suggestion and comments, I actually will not be drag racing it right now its more for street use so had planned on keeping it turned down to 900rwhp for a while but was not sure if the stock tranny would even handle that, I have heard they will handle up to 1000rwhp but some say 800rwhp. This is where I am getting confused there seems to be not concrete number for rwhp on the stock one, I will be updating rear end and some other stuff this winter and then drag it some next year just was worried about the stock tranny @900rwhp until then. |

If you decide to swap that transmission out. Let me know I'll gladly take it off your hands

If you don't put on drag tires the stock trans and rear should be fine. ADM has run 1000whp through them without failure. If you don't drag race, the ZL1 rear end will be fine also. Some people may want to sell you parts but my car saw over 1000 wheel horsepower on the stock rear and had may hard launches on drag tires (set 60 ft record on manual trans with drag radial). I broke the stock manual transmission without any breakage on the stock rear end, driveshaft, or axle shafts. I since switched the rear because it was getting a little play but the stock unit never failed.

Thanks I cant wait to get it done, oh not sure if you knew but mine is an automatic but I am leaning on upgrading and if I do it will probably be in the next 3 weeks or so, pm me your info I will give you a call to see if we can work something out if your still interested.
The transmission has 24k miles on it, behind stock motor, easy miles never ran it hard while I was waiting to mod other than the occasional interstate play.It is at my shop now where the car was dynoed for the stock pull before we started the mods. |

Aw shucks man, I was hoping it was a 6 speed, but still good luck. The autos are fairly strong and go quite far before reinforcement is needed. I know it was a guy with 700+ hp and made at least 500-700 passes on his trans before anything gave out. They are built tough....sounds like a ford line...sorry about that haha
