to those who are considering a ZLE but worry about the ride
So, thought I would put experience out there. Had a ZL1 A10 for 3 years and now a ZLE 6.
First impression that I had when i drove a ZLE for the very first time (when i went to pick it up) - not bad - its not as bad as people make it out to be. Then i did the 12 hr drive back home and i was like - I really hope the pavement remains good. When the pavement is good - its great. When its not it bounces a fair bit. This was on 3rs. Yesterday, i put on a spare set of wheels with regular 3s on the car. MAN, what a difference, i could practically live with it for daily driving. The difference is very noticeable. So, if you are on the fence, DO drive one without the 3rs if you can to make up your mind. |

lol i have seen ton of people complain about this before its a track focused car so i can only imagine the harshness but most people switch to street tires michelin ps4s /goodyear 3s and say it definately improves the ride

I don't find it nearly as bad as some make it out to be.. I've read some reviewers call it 'punishing'.. a bit over dramatic. I bought this car fully expecting this type of ride, and enjoy the heck out of it. I will switch to the regular 3' vs the 3R's when the time comes though. I had them on my prior SS 1LE and never had a complaint about them. Its good to hear they work just as well on this beast.

Avoid road trips to Myrtle Beach on the original 3R's!
If you have the original 3R's, suffer from even mild back pain and travel on rough roads for long durations, it'll catch up with you and make you begin to have second thoughts. If you maintain a healthy back and switch to regular street tires, you won't have to worry so much about the rough roads. |

If you have any sensitivity to ride quality, just get the ZL1. There’s a difference and if you are sensitive to it, you will know it immediately. If you don’t care about ride quality, go 1LE.

You will find that most of the people that say stay away from them don't own one. I actually enjoy the ride but I don't daily it.

I daily my ZLE and I will agree that the 3R's were a little more harsh than my PS4S's are. With that said, if you've ever owned a 3/4 or 1 ton truck the ride is very similar. It's stiff, but for all the right reasons. I've got almost 19k miles of daily driving on mine and aside from the 3R's in the rain, I've loved every minute of it.

To me a car is a car, I enjoy my ZLE and if anyone wants a smooth riding car then get a 72 Sedan Deville, now that was a smooth riding car, but yes the tires make a difference, the 3R's had to be replaced so I have the Ventus V12's on the stock wheels and Michelin AS 3+ on the APEX wheels.

Here’s my opinion...if you own a ZL1, you’re probably going to say the ZLE is way too stiff for your likings. If you own a ZLE, you’re going to say the ride is fine. You’re going to defend what you have just like the back & forth between A10 & M6 owners. Buy what you like & don’t worry about what anyone else thinks.
I’m a ZLE owner & love the car. I’ve never ridden in a ZL1 before so I can’t compare the two, but I’m good with the way the ZLE rides. It’s planted to the ground & has about zero body roll. Now with that being said, is it a bit stiff...yes, but that’s what I would expect from solid bushings & dssv suspension setup. On rough roads the car can get a little bouncy, but I can live with that. I live in Florida where most of the roads are pretty well maintained. I’m originally from New Orleans & if I still lived there, I don’t think I would own this car unless it was just a track machine. I don’t daily my car, but if I had to I could. If I was to buy it for a daily, I would have probably gotten a regular ZL1. To me the ZLE just looks so much more aggressive than the ZL1 & that’s what sold me on the car. |

I wanted a non 1le car because I drag race and roll race my car. Will be doing half miles also. I would absolutely get the 1le if I tracked the car. While I understand the function of the dive planes and rear wing, I don't like the look of it. Just my opinion. Oh yea, and no sunroofs on a zl1

I've had a regular ZL1 for a year and a half and now have a 1LE as well. The difference is huge in terms of ride quality, but that's to be expected. The magnetic suspension in the regular ZL1 does a fantastic job at managing the bumps to give you a smooth ride but still perform REALLY well in the corners if you ask it to. The 1LE is just another level or two up in the corners.
