hurst short throw

just ordered a Hurst short throw and i have some questions

1) how much do shops normally charge to install?
2) do you guys really notice a big difference?
3) any problems after driving for awhile with it?
4) and last does it hurt the warranty?

Hope this aint hijacking the thread, and it is just informational, as I have an automatic, but what is the main reason people opt for this feature? Wonder how many are ordered as an option, as a % of manual transmission sales...

Lastly, do many prefer the standard stock shifter?

In regards to the aftermarket Hurst shifter:

1) Don't know, I got lucky and was able to have Hurst/B&M racing install it during their open house
2) Yes, it reduces the throw by like 40%
3) There can be slight vibration noise during WOT but they have a noise reduction kit that you can install. Some have complained of excess play in the shifter while in neutral
4) I'll let someone else answer that in detail. Most will say refer to Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act

Just installed one on my car yesterday... Awesome improvement. Much better feel, and a drastically shorter shift. A friend and I installed in about an hour.

Ditto ... just installed mine yesterday as well and I love it. Took about two hours because it decided to rain while I was installing in my driveway. Tightening the small retaining screws with an allen wrench was probably the toughest part.

i want the hurst chrome stick on my factory installed hurst linkage. Will it fit if I can buy just the stick & white hurst ball.

No. The OEM Hurst shifter is one solid whereas the Hurst aftermarket shifter has a bottom portion and then a top portion that bolts to it. You'd have to install the aftermarket Hurst shifter to get the stick and white ball.

Well that kind of sucks, i like the way the ford shifters look with the Hurststick

The aftermarket Hurst short throw is a different shifter than the factory Hurst.... The factory Hurst has a longer throw..... I was amazed when I drove a factory Hurst car, a little better than the stock, but not as good as the aftermarket billet.
