Race gas
Finally ran a tank of race gas, and the car runs completely different. It runs smoother and can tell a power differences also. Who else runs race gas in the cars?

Hope you don't need to pass a smog check, race gas will kill the cats.

The cost alone isn't worth it or actually legal to use on the street since most of it has lead in it. You don't list any mods but a stock SS with a supercharger certainly doesn't warrant race fuel and should be tuned for it as well.
I doubt the OP has cats to worry about anyways since he shows being supercharged. Florida does not have any smog or inspections. |

At the very least i'd get it hooked up to a wideband and see what's going on when running it. Don't want to cause any issues with the timing and boost levels on race fuel.

this. And like he said you need to tune for race gas, then of course you are stuck with it. I'm assuming you are using race gas that is designed for a supercharged engine as well.

Always run on the gas your car is tuned for. The placebo effect is not good enough. Yeah you can advance the timing but you need that tune, and if its an A6 you need a vvt tune or your hp curve will be either exactly the same or a little kinky.

If you can tell a nice power gain, your engine has some knock in it on the 93/91 tune or you had some crappy gas.

The difference is purley in your mind.. The compression ratio on the engine is set to run on regular gas.. anything else is a waste of money unless it's tuned.. trust me.. Been there done that

In car properly tuned for pump gas, race gas will make it run worse.

This story involves a mild performance carbureted engine, but the concept is the same as with injected engines:
http://www.popularhotrodding.com/tec...pump_race_gas/ To make it short, basically a waste of money unless you have the compression to require it! |

I run 5 gallons off race fuel to a full tank of super unleaded every time I fill up. The car runs flawlessly. It is so responsive to this. Also my exhaust tips have no black crud on them either.

Please don't tell me you buy that stuff they sell at the gas station?
What you need if you really want performance is some VP100 or some VP Motorsport109. These are oxygenated unleaded race fuels. They will increase horsepower on your low compression or supercharged engine. That stuff at the gas station is for normally aspirated high compression engines and not to boost power it's because they need it. Also rumoured to damage oxygen sensors, waste of your money ,loss of your horsepower. The higher the octane the slower the fuel burns.
