For what it's worth, from that article they did the Figure Eight in 24.7 seconds.

For comparison here are some others:

Camaro 1LE: 24.2
Boss 302: 24.6
Camaro ZL1 Coupe: 23.9
Camaro ZL1 Vert: 24.1
GT500: 24.2

I guess I was not quite clear ... the dealers aren't asking anything over ... yet ... they don't know how many (if any at all) they're even getting yet.

Guy walks into the dealer and says, "here, Here, HERE!!! TAKE MY $20,000 ... call me when it's in and, yeah, I'll write another check for sticker price."

What's the dealer gonna do? "Sir, absolutely not! We will only sell it to you for MSRP. We don't want you're moola."

I know the one dealer will get one, they easily sell every SRT they get ... actually, on second thought ... as f'ed as SRT marketing has been lately, that's likely a guarantee they won't get one.

Great post!
From that article;
Here's the part you've been waiting for. Our best run in the Hellcat resulted in 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds before whacking the quarter mile upside the head in 11.7 seconds at 125.4 mph. So many things to note here. First of all, as far as direct competition still on sale, the Hellcat is quicker than the Camaro ZL1. The supercharged Chevy takes 3.8 seconds to hit 60 mph and requires 12.2 seconds to run the corner, trapping out at 116.6 mph. So, that's a win. What about competition you can't buy new anymore, like -- for instance -- the recently discontinued 662-hp Shelby GT500? The lighter Snake needed only 3.5 seconds for its 60-mph blast and 11.6 seconds to go down the quarter mile with a trap speed of 125.7 mph. Slight advantage: Ford. That said, it's gone, so in terms of new-car sales, the Snake don't matter. What about the Viper? In the TA, we saw 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and a quarter-mile spanking of 11.3 seconds with an astonishing trap speed of 129.3 mph. Of course, the Hellcat weighs 1000 pounds more than its big (but smaller) brother.

Hey it's something! But in all seriousness, I couldn't care less about straight line performance. I'm more interested in its track abilities, now the figure eight test hardly is reflective of its full track potential. However it does give some insight about its handling.

Nothing wrong with that, but I bet the majority of the buyers of the hellcat can care less about corners and care more about how this car will destroy people at stoplights

That's disappointing.
What about the 11.2-second quarter-mile time that Dodge has been trumpeting to the world? Well, half a second (11.7 seconds versus 11.2) is the difference between a prepped VHT surface and the street. All Motor Trend testing is done on asphalt, while Dodge got its big number on the strip.
Looking at other MotorTrend reviews "on asphalt" for comparison:

GT500: 0-60, 3.8sec; 1/4mile 11.6 @ 125.7mph; 3871lbs - Manual
Hellcat: 0-60, 3.7sec; 1/4mile 11.7 @ 125.4mph; 4449lbs - Automatic
ZL1: 0-60, 3.8sec; 1/4mile 12.1 @ 117.4mph; 4051lbs - Manual

So a manual GT500 is still faster than an automatic Hellcat, and it costs $5,000 less? I'm confused!? I thought the AutoCat was going to obliterate the Ford in a straight line? What did the Ford run on the VHT prepped drag strip?

I'm not so sure about that yet. How far apart are those stop lights?

Burnout king. Yes! Plus, you can always mod it and do even longer burnouts.
