Clutch issues

Hi,
I have a 1983 Z28 with a mechanical clutch. We have chased tons of problems for the past 10 years with this clutch. I could drop the tranny and work on the clutch in my sleep. It is time to install a hydraulic clutch. Has anyone done this before? If so what's involved? We've heard we may even need to change the tranny? Any ideas?
thanks
Robin

List the problems you mentioned. Maybe you have a defective flywheel or other component like the bearing fork etc.

Also how do you break your clutches in? I assume you drive it like an old lady for 500 or more miles. They have to break in right it's like a set of brake pads. If not broken in they won't last very long when things start going south.

We have chased problems like a crack along where it bolts on the frame.Twisted, bent parts, we have replaced many components and it is time to replace it with a hydraulic set up.
