Anyone buy a 3D TV yet?

What did you get and why? Do you like it?

I am very close in getting the Samsung 63 inch Plasma but its not 100% dead on for 3D like the Panasonic.

Panasonic

Pro
Great picture in 3D
65 inch display

Cons
Cost is very high vs. the Samsung
Glasses do do not fit the wife or I

=========

Samsung

Pro
2D to 3D conversion and heard this works pretty well
Cost is a lot cheaper than the Panasonic
Comfortable glasses

Con
A little bit of Ghosting/Crossdock. Has gotten better with the fW update to 1019.1 and hoping it continues

I just bought Samsung's 55" LED TV. I stayed away from the 3D since it was still a fairly new technology and since there is very little programming for it. I also thought the price of the glasses were ridiculous. I'm going to give it a couple of years and see how the reviews are and such. Samsung are making very good quality sets and I'm extremely happy with my new LED. The picture quality is top notch. It was rated as the best LED TV along with Sony's XBR model but was $1,700 cheaper. The review said the only other tv with better picture quality was the Pioneer Kuro Elite plasma.

3-D TV's creep me out. And i have to wear glasses as it is, so I would need to wear glasses and THEN the 3-d glasses.

Not to mention how rediculously expensive they are. And for what? To watch Avatar?

Maybe 5-8 years from now, but by then they might just have a hat you wear that lets you see TV shows in your mind

Just throwing this out there. I work at Best Buy and have seen both versions in 3D, I usually am a Samsung guy (I own one myself) but for some reason both the 3D plasma Samsungs on display get major burn ins. I like the look of the samsungs finish a lot better but the panasonics glasses are 100x more durable. We've gone through about 6 pairs!

Wait for a few months/year, they are working on 3D tv's where you won't have to wear goggles- it will be a coating on the screen.

Very True.... But the waiting game plays a huge role in this. It sounds like he wants one now! lol

Not a fan of 3D. We have two Samsungs (42 and 50) love them - we're just not into the 3D stuff sorry.

I have read that ESPN and Discovery Channel are preparing to release all 3D channels. Until they can make a TV that doesn't require the glasses and there are more programming choices in 3D, I will stick with HD...I hope the 3D "fad" passes quickly.

LOL, We watch a lot of TV.

3D will just hold me over until hologram TVs come out...

I am paying less than a 1000 more than you for the 3D 62" which is a killer deal

With Samsung yes but you can do 2D or 3D. Some shows are better than others. They are the only one that is doing this right now.
