I want a 2015 1LE Camaro, but at the same time I want to wait and see what the 2016 car looks like and what it has to offer.
I really wanted it when I saw the 2014 1LE Camaro, saw a few black ones and man does it look really mean. Color HUD and DIC really add to the experience if you ask me. |

C&D's latest comparo had them ranked as such:
1. Mustang GT PP 2. Camaro 1LE 3. Challenger Scat Pack The rundown was that the 1LE was the best performer, they knocked it as a crappy DD because of the cheap interior and cabin visibility problems, problems the Mustang doesn't have (ITO). They also stated the Mustang looked better with the new styling (lol wut?). If C&D is putting "beauty" before the "beast" I'll take the Beast. That and for a performance vehicle I've always felt a car needs sharp, angular and aggressive lines. Best quote I've heard about my car came from my cousin's boyfriend as we were playing a little cat and mouse on the highway in traffic(he has a BMW M3) "dude...it looks like your car wants to eat my car as you were bearing down on me." Yes...have some attitude have some aggressiveness and standout. Mustang GT...I'll pass....Mustang GT350...hmm...I might give it a look. |

As much as I love my 1LE and know its capabilities, it's hard to take the GT3 comment seriously without an actual head-to-head comparison. It's a good sign that people familiar with both cars would make that comment, but I want to see the details.

I had to look it up... Interesting.
Selected all time Car and Driver Lightning Lap times from this year's article. 2007 Porsche GT3... 3:01.8 2013 CAMARO SS 1LE... 3:01.5 2013 Porsche Carrera S... 2:58.9 2011 Porsche GT3 RS... 2:55.9 2014 Corvette Stingray Z51... 2:53.8 2014 Porsche Turbo S... 2:52.2 2014 CAMARO Z/28... 2:50.9 2012 Ferrari 458 Italia... 2:49.9 Note: Car and Driver 2013 Lightning Lap article and video stated that the 1LE "with fresh tires and without that one little mistake, the Camaro SS 1LE has the potential to break 3 minutes, for under $40,000." I want one. |

GM itself did 2:58 with the 1LE and 2:52 with the ZL1 even before repavement.

X25, your point is spot on.
Car and Driver, as I recall, uses the best lap time for each car that their very good and excellent drivers can execute during the test. Their lap times may not be competitive with say, Randy Pobst (Motor Trend pro tester, watch him drive with his finger tips, funny and fast) or GM's talented and very fast hot shoes. GM has some fast-ass driving engineers! By using the best lap time out of many drivers, and many laps of track and car familiarization, they can get a real sense of how the CARS stack up against one another, on a track that some will say comes the closest, in America, to the Nurburgring. Dollar for dollar, the 1LE is a great bargain as a muscle car that handles as well as a fantastic world class sports car. |

While I would have no problem buying a manual 1LE, I also think GM is losing some sales by not offering an auto option...

I think it's great and it keeps the sales numbers low!

Love the 1LE. It is a bargin! I've modified my '11 SS A6 to get as close to a 1LE as possible. Didn't know about the 1LE when I bought the SS so mod it is. I know it's an auto but, still fun to drive...
