When I worked for a Chevrolet dealership, we had approx. 60 Camaro's on the lot, majority were V6/V8 with an automatic, I prob recall only a dozen or so were Manuals, I only worked there for a couple months and out of the 10 camaro's I sold, NONE of them were Manual

When we started getting the sold Stingray's in, the first one we got, was an AUTO as well

Here our rush hour is a half-hour. Wasn't a consideration.

When I did have to deal with that kind of traffic and drove several hours a day, I drove a 3/4 ton with an auto. I can't see using a Camaro to service customers.

Wasn't that I could not afford an automatic, was not going to pay $1100 for less HP an AFM. After doing a few mods, I made the right choice for me.

I am looking to buy a camaro too and am hoping for a manual. Manual or auto is simply a personal preference.

That being said, an automatic transmission is generally the smarter choice. Resale value is one thing. Ease of use is another. Auto trans allow for better multitasking. And now, fuel efficiency is superior in an auto trans because the computer is smarter than us at shifting.

But... My current car is a manual. I have had auto transmissions in the past and they are fine, but after a while I begin wishing for the old clutch again.

Traffic jams don't bother me and that's with 30 minutes to go 3 miles in LA. But anyone with more sense would go for an auto trans.

Given the nature of car sales, I would be shocked if manual transmissions are found within 10 years. Dealers cannot sell them and production has substantial cost that cannot return on the investment anymore.

Come live in the DC area and tell me how great a manual is after a year.

Supply and demand. More people prefer automatics... more conducive to texting. Faster too! Can't wait for the 8-speeds!

Multitasking should be left for computers. If manuals keep drivers engaged in driving, they should be mandatory safety equipment.

The SS Camaro with a manual gets better mileage than the auto and does not have active fuel management, a much hated feature on many enthusiast forums, but yes, different strokes for different folks.

Why would somebody want to do that?
