Waxing the flat hood/trunk stripes
Hey, I'm a new owner of a 2010 inferno orange SS with flat black hood/trunk stripes. I'm curious if I can wax over them or if I need to avoid them and wax around. Tomorrow will be the first full wax day.

The only thing I have found that wont leave streaks or white powder on them is Turtle Wax Ice. But it's best not to get any wax on them at all. They don't need it.

Thanks, I'll be sure to avoid them. It'll just take more time to wax a suppose. I previously had an all black impala and could tell the difference between the regularly waxed paint an the paint I couldnt get to inside the emblems. I think I will try using q-tips to wax in between the thick part of the stripes and the thin border stripe that goes around them.

Would highly discourage that. There's no way you will be able to remove that wax without getting on the stripes, even if you could apply it. If anything, tape off the parts you don't want to hit and then wax around them. *In life, there are no nandroids*

I have tried a little bit of everything but here is what seems to works best for me. Klasse Sealant Glaze, just one coat then top it with Turtle Wax Ice synthetic spray wax when needed)about every two three weeks or so. repeat every 6 months with a new layer of Klasse. might want to give the stripes a Dawn wash to clean them well before applying. tend to do it in the spring when I do my full car detail and then again in the fall when I get ready for winter. if you can't find Klasse you can always substitute any long lasting non-carnuba sealant.

Avoid waxing them.
I use Chemical Guys Matte Detailer for maintenance. Works great. |
