I'm 18 as well, and I'm getting my 2011 SS today. It will be my second new car that I have. When I was 15 I bought a new Chevy Colorado. My parents are fine(actually excited) with me having two new cars at the age of 18, but they do not help me at all financially. I've worked since I was little, and I'm working 55 hours a week now.
My father and grandfather both have interests in cars and I suppose I just grew up loving cars bc of them. Maturity however is something you have to have when buying a car like this. You will also respect the car(or anything at that) a lot more if you spend your own money on it. |

You don't need a Camaro right now. Go to school, get good grades, get a good job and then enjoy the fruit of your success. I was 20 years old in 2002, I wanted a 35th anniversary edition SS soooooo bad. I worked all the overtime my employer would allow, used credit cards and paid off the balances monthly to try and raise my credit and STILL couldn't get a Camaro for anywhere near even $500 a month. I sucked it up like a man, continued to work my ass of and save my ass off and was able to buy my 2010 without having to beg, borrow or steal. I know it's tough, but nothing about life is easy. In the grand scheme of things this is just a car and if you need to stress yourself and your finances out over trying to get one.... Well then, you probably don't really need it. You'll be happier in the future if you spend and save your money wisely now. |

Sure, there may be a FEW exceptional cases of teenagers who are emotionally mature, responsible, exercise good decision making abilities, don't cave to peer pressure, and realize that they AREN'T immortal....but those who have all of the above are VERY FEW and far between. For the vast majority though it's a recipe for disaster

I think the best way to get your Camaro is the old fashioned way and the one I'm most fond of- marry into it. I imagine you could pick some 80 yr old lady (or man if that is what your into), marry her and then wait for her/him to pass on. it worked for Anna Nicole Smith...
Oh! wait a minute...... |
