560hp civic
On his previous set up he made 561whp and went 11.23 @ 126, well i have a 5k budget and basically stock car aside from a k&n intake. what would needed to be done to sneak out a 10.9x?
i'm definitely going to run an nx express 150 wet shot through a shark nozzle. i've yet to buy a tuner, i do have the proper plugs and a local tuner here capable of doing whatever my car needs fuel and timing wise. i'm just not sure what else i need as far as gears, tire, stall, suspension. i am not afraid to make my car 100% a single seater. from what i've seen a few have cut low 11's/high 10s with headers and shot alone but wondering your thoughts on what and where to spend to drag this kid. pockets only get deeper towards winter. oh forgot to mention this was in a 1300 da with 72% humidity for that night he ran that said time. also a friend of mine has 18x9.5 wheels from his ls3 corvette. down side is they are factory 56mm off set, any chance of these still fitting?

From what I have seen, you pretty much need to have ~ 700 RWHP, the right tires, and know how to drive the 1/4 to run 10's There are guys here that have spent 5-6X that amount to run 10's consistently. Let us know what you decide and how it comes out.

Cam - 2k
Nitrous - 1k Used boltons and tune - 1k Drag radials off craigslist and trailing arms - 1k Weight reduction - free Lots of skill - Priceless You might get into the 10s but you'll need a big shot and an aggressive cam and parts will start breaking quickly.

only needs to work once. and 5k is the budget right now, not the budget by october (more as i add to it). i have a decent amount of the build figured. and the means to have it installed very reasonably, a chevy tech friend of mine and i are going to be doing the dod delete and cam swap. just researching what size stall in conjunction with a 150 shot and the vvt-3 cam. and if i'll need any head work at all since they will be pulled off anyways. labor for stall installation and dod delete is only going to run me 800. (not including price of parts).

REVISED
I don't see it either. A guy here just ran a 12.2 1/4 MILE. That's drag radials, CAI, LT Headers, full exhaust w/ cutouts, stronger axles, tuned and a pretty big Cam too. Not to mention he can drive pretty well. He was having a hard time to get it to hook up though. I don't see $5k getting you there, even with you doing every bit of labor. The only thing that might do it is the Spray, but even that will be a close one. That's my 2 cents, probably only worth 1 though. Last edited by Sales @ CAI Inc; 05-31-2013 at 12:19 PM. |

Which leads us to our main problem with this whole situation: track conditions/luck. Considering he has an auto, driving skill won't matter. But the track will have to be well prepped, the weather great, his mods will have to work together properly, hopefully he has good factory parts and doesn't wheel hop everywhere, etc. I guess we'll just have to find out.
