my old car

Whats interesting to me is my old 96 LT1 would run faster 60 foot times than yall have but you caught up to my time. Mine would run 1.82 60 foot & 8.68 1/8 at 82 mpg. Have not run my 2010 L-99 yet. Waiting for November for it to cool down here. South Ga. Here. Still in the 80s.

I can vouch that GoBob has zero mod's to his car... not even an air-filter replacement.

Me too....my very first run in my '93 LT1 was 9.10 in the 1/8 mi, and after she got good and broke in, I was in the 8.60's, 8.70's with only a K/N filter and axle back exhaust.

Wow...that's impressive. What are the weather and track conditions like? Are you shifting or just dropping it in sport mode? How are you taking off? Just questions that I need to know....I haven't been on the track in 11 years, so maybe I've lost my touch I'd actually rather it be that than to have a slow car!!!!

Instructions:

After reading dozens of posts and PM'ing a few members with good times and going out to the track 4 times with over 30 passes here is the L99 secret to success (maybe).

Pre-Launch:
Hold down your traction control for 7 secs to get into competition mode, both traction and stability lights will come on.
Place the car in Manual (M not D) but DO NOT TOUCH THE TAPShifters.

Tires:
DR's or Slicks - do a REALLY good burnout to get them sticky.
Streets - get around the water and do a small burnout.

Launch:
After staging, hold down the brake, place the car in (N)eutral, bump the gas, the brake will sink a little. Put the car in (M)anual, do touch the TAPShift. Give a little gas ~1000 RPM with a stock Torque/stall or 300 to 500 RPM less than your stall is set to.

Green Light:
Let go of the brake and firmly press the gas.
HOLD ON!

Please feel free to add anything that I missed or needs improving.

Nice post jamesfl! Tgis is almost exactly my routine with just some very minor differences. I've been to the track well over a dozen tilmes, with well over 30 combined passes. Consistency at launch time is critical, as you know, so having a set routine leads to better times.

For those that might be new to the track, all I would add to the mix is at GREEN, firmly pressing the gas doesn't mean flooring it... at least for me. I firmly press about a third of the way and slowly but steadily increase as I progress down the track and up the speedmometer/rpm's. all too often, at least for me and my stock rubber, "flooring it" leads to "spinning it" on the line.
