1LT Camaro question
Maybe its just me but I didnt see anything on the Chevy website about this. I'm looking to get a Camaro 1LT in a month or 2 once I save up what I want to put down. My question is on the brakes and RWD. I currently own an Explorer 4x4. Ive never dealt with RWD. How is the handeling in different elements ie rain or snow? I live in Jersey so I go thru it all. Also do ABS come standard? And are the brakes disc brakes? If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

The Camaro has Traction Control which keeps you from losing control in "less than ideal" conditions. I never drove mine in snow (living in SC), but I've had my 2SS (V8) & the 1LT I owned for a year in rain with no issues whatsoever.
All Camaros have 4 wheel disc brakes with ABS standard. The SS models have larger sized, upgraded brakes. Maybe someone else can chime in about driving in the snow.

Thats good enough. Ive just never drove RWD as my family has all 4x4 truck or SUVs. Does the 1LT have a dual exhaust or is it single? I just thought I'd throw that out there.

2SS
Some SUV are rear wheel drive , on the driving on snow just go easy on the gas , no lead foot and most of all DO NOT DISABLE the stability track/traction control ,let it do what it suppose to do !!!

The only time you might want to turn off traction control in the winter is if you actually get stuck. The traction control will keep your tires from spinning and you might need to do that to get out! And yes... it does have true dual exhaust also...

Yeah, I don't recommend getting the RS package unless you plan on swapping the tires out in the winter or driving a different car. I love my 1LT/RS. Just added Brembos today. Luckily I have a winter beater to drive in snowy weather because the summer tires on the RS get extremely hard and slick below freezing.

I prolly wont. I'm trying to keep price down to low 20ks (after my down payment.) I actually priced a black 1LT automatic with connectivity package at around $24,327. So I'm figuring of financing about $22k or more ideally closer to $21k. I actually test drove one when they first came out in '09 cause I was looking o get one during Cash For Clunkers but wound up not closing the deal and since regretting it. Only problem I had with the test drive was to me (being 6'6) it just seemed like the windshield was a bit small..? I dont know its hard to describe how I felt about the windshield and visibility but it is def a nice car. Any of you have any problems with visibility or no?

You'll get over the visibility while driving in a week or two. Parking is tough, but you'll have the C&C, which will give you the sensors.
ABS, 4-wheel discs, TCS, and one other active stability management something-or-other, all standard. If you don't want to spin the tires, I think this car is great because of the low torque numbers. But if you want to get on it, the HP is high enough to have some fun.

I'm still debating the convience and connectivity package. I dont really need the bluetooth. The wheel mount controls I believe according to yahoo autos anyway comes standard and the headunit has the aux input already. Idk if its worth the 2k extra I wind up paying.

here is another crazy question. Now whenever I get this car it will be my first new car. I got my current one at 17 with my parents so I obviously didnt know what they were talking about when doing the paperwork etc. When figuring out how much I want to put down etc I couldnt find any answers to my question. How does the tax, title, and license fees work? If I get a LS for $20k I'm looking at at least $1400 in fees (7% sales tax in NJ.) Does this figure into my auto loan or would I really need $3400 at time of signing $2k for down payment and $1400 for the fees? This is without a doubt probably the dumbest question ever on these forums but I would like to know the answer so i can plan a bit better my savings.

If you don't get the RS on the 1LT you get all season tires. I bought a 1LT with the 19" polished aluminum wheels (extra cost) and Pirelli all season tires. I had my Camaro in a 4 to 6" snow 1 time with no extra weight in the car and the camaro did pretty good with the all season Pirelli W (168 MPH) speed rated tires. The 18" standard tires on the 1LT are all season but limited to 118 MPH. Both the 18 and 19 inch tires are quite a bit cheaper than the 20" summer tires supplied on the RS and SS. The front and rear tires on the 18 and 19 inch wheels are the same but are not on the RS and SS so you can't rotate all four tires on the SS or RS.
