Help Me decide:Vette or Camaro

Me and my wife cant decide on a 2010 Camaro or an '05/'06 vette with less than 20K miles. We dont have a specific vette in mind, we've just been looking. We couldnt (really) afford a Z06, it would just be the LS2 or whatever with 400 hp. Wife wants a vette, Im torn. What made you decide on a '10 camaro? Price is a factor (of course) but we got $10K (up to $17K) to put down. We're 22 and 21 so insurance is a concern. No kids yet, so we dont have to buy whats most practical, although having the option to put some people in the back seat is nice. Any one care to help me with the pro's and con's. Im sure I wont get a biased answer at CAMARO5

I'm in the same boat man, I'm looking at an '06 Z06 or ordering the Camaro. Price doesnt really come into it. I just am trying to figure out which way it goes.

I think the deciding factor is going to be if, or if not i can get the 427 block in the camaro from factory. if not, i think i'll end up getting a vette.

the other thing i've looked at is, what the cars actually mean.....See i think... again think i want a Muscle car.... in which case i'm all for the Camaro... the Camaro is a muscle car hands down. no questions asked.

Where the Vette I see as more of a hyper car. its the top end......

So the question back to you, what are you looking to compete with? Mustangs/Challengers or Porsches/Maseratis?

Well you said you don't have kids... yet. If they are in the near future, you are going to be stuck getting a another car or selling the Vette.

If safety is a factor, then the Camaro wins easily. It's heavier and has curtain air bags that are not even offered on the Vette.

Not many supercars in my area, lol. I took a drive in a challenger srt8 the other and I was actually impressed. I want something that sounds sweet and when I wanna get up and go, no little punks can hang with me. I want POWER, but I also want the next car I drive to last me forever. i plan on taking excellent care of it. I got a car Ima drive not daily but ever so often to keep the miles off of my main car...... So even a 400 hp vette would smoke a 422 hp Camaro?

i think that is a pretty tall order to ask for from the factory, as there isnt any way it would be available you could look at a crate swap. the ls7 uses the same ECU so it would be a direct drop in, and you can sell your ls3, there is definately a market for it. if your not down for that you may have to look else where. becacsue the ls7 is on its way out and it. also the more engine options you offer from the factory the more it costs them in overhead and factory space as they have to have more engines beside the line to put into the car as well as the low production numbers involved with making the ls7 make it hard for it to be offered because they would not be able to keep up with possible demand. only way to stem the tide of ls7 orders would be a much higher price tag (higher then the difference in the engine cost).

tl:dr It wont come from the factory with a ls7

Well it depends on what you are looking for. Granted my opinion is biased....but I am buying my wife a Camaro as soon as it comes out. That being said, the Corvette is in a completely different league. Now in fairness I haven't driven the Camaro, and I haven't even driven a standard C6 Corvette. I have only the Z06 to reference. I can tell you this, I love this car more each time I get in it. For those of you begging for a 500+hp Camaro, trust me when I say, a 500+hp car is a beast, granted my car only weighs about 3200 lbs. The Z06 offers more road noise, engine noise, and a bit rougher ride then a standard Corvette, that being said, it is truly a supercar, and we should be happy to have cup holders. The point is, if you are more interested in comfort, and then performance, the standard vette is the way to go. If performance and looks is your goal, then the Z06 wins hands down. Now I realize you asked about Corvette or Camaro. I can tell you that either will be a great choice, but I would be careful to compare them to close to each other. They are different cars for a different market. A side benefit to the Corvette is better gas mileage and better performance. I think even the stock Corvette will beat the SS Camaro. They both have hte same hp, but the Vette weighs quite a bit less. If you wife wants the Corvette, then get the vette, then when the Camaro comes out, get one of those as well

Get the Camaro. That back seat will come in handy when you least expect it.

Umm really? Corvette > Camaro.

I'd get a Corvette over a Camaro in a heartbeat. But that's just me.
