Correct Stance for Drag Racing ?
What is the best stance for drag racing. Should the car be level, lowered, raised front or rear etc.

Drop the front for aerodynamics to keep the least amount of air possible from getting under the car, set rear ride height so your axles are parallel to ground, for maximum efficiency/hp to the ground.

I'd like to drop the back of my car a bit more that I want to drop the front, I'm guessing that's the reason for some folks to drop the front 1" and the rear 1.25 - 1.4"?
That said I don't have a feel for IRS geometry so I wonder about that a bit.

It isnt like a straight axle. set the axles parallel for max hp, or set them canted down slightly for maximum traction. as the axle twists, if canted downward, the centrifugal motion and application of torque will actually cause the back of the car to squat as the axle naturally wants to become parallel under load, increasing traction by means of leverage, since the suspension pushes down on the control arms and thus tires to counteract this motion.
The camber curve is quite linear. So long as you align the car at intended ride height, you're pretty much good to go. Mine's 0.1 degree positive camber on both sides for max traction at the track and neutral toe. |
