Air Compressor for the Garage

My old 60gal tank has sprung a leak and i need to replace it. i've been searching online and there are MANY choices out there. i started with just replacing the tank, but that is nearly the price of a new compressor. since mine is very old, i'm leaning towards a new compressor.

looked and sears, i've always had good experience with Craftsman, but the ratings are pretty poor. i know not to believe everything i read on the internet...........but the Craftsman products do not seem to be as good as they used to be.

what are you folks using and would you recommend the same to your mother?

thx in advance

Here's the one I would buy if I had to replace mine. The IR 2 stage with 80 gal tank at $1198 shipped to your door. I would steer clear of the big box stores for this.

I've been looking at the IR compressors, that is what i now have. i was looking at the need for the 2 stage version for me............i don't have anything that needs 175psi. what do you see is the advantage?

From another site...

"Two-stage air compressors provide a reliable air source in commercial, industrial and automotive applications. Multistage units tend to be more efficient compressing air to a higher pressure than single-stage compressors. This allows more air to be stored for future use while generating less heat, reducing wear and extending compressor life."

I've used a two stage, Craftsman Professional, 80gal for years. Definitely quieter.

I bought a CH VT6271. works well for running all my air tools. I needed a short horiz compressor to fit under my workbench. A lot quieter than my old craftsman 20gal 110v oil-less

I use a Sears 60 gallon compressor. I have owned it for 3 years and not a single complaint.
I also picked it up for $350 on Black Friday.

No problem. Be sure to post a pic of whatever you end up with!

And thanks! Just as difficult as black to keep clean though.

I have a 7.5HP 60 Husky from Home Depot. Running it for over 10 years now, the compressor is a piston style made in USA deal. No issues at all. I got it in a trade and it cost me almost nothing. Their price for one wasn't too bad last I checked.

That Ingersoll Rand 2 Stage compressor is the best compressor you could ever get. Highly recommended
