what is the STOCK H/P and torque on a ZL1

I am debating on buying a 2013 ZL1 or 2017 ZL1.
I like how the newer Camaros look in the inside better, but something about the 2013 still calls my name on the outside.
I LOVE the way the both look, but a used one is more in my price range.
so just debating on if the horsepower is much of a difference compared to the price.

580 vs 650

But with a few simple bolt ons (JRE 125 RWHP upgrade) I am at 700

If money is no issue, get the new ZL1. No offense to any owners here of 5th Gen's (Such as myself), but the new ZL1 is bound to be a whole lot better in many ways.

If money is a problem, then you can get the 5th Gen ZL1 and put a few grand of nice modifications.

Note: just for reference, these are the numbers at the engine, NOT at the rear wheels.

Typical RWHP for a manual trans, should be in the 490-495 RWHP range with an auto coming in at a bit less due to more drivetrain loss.

Same driveline losses will apply to the '17 ZL1, so as long as you compare flywheel vs flywheel or rwhp vs rwhp, it's an apples to apples comparison.

I can't wait for the 17's to hit the street...$62k plus getting their asses pulled by slightly modded Gen 5's... the Gen 5!!!

6th Gens are quite a bit lighter, about 300 pounds I believe. (4100ish vs. 3760ish)

650 Crank HP, around 560-570 WHP for the 6th plus a few hundred pound weigh advantage

580 Crank HP, around 480-490 WHP for most 5th ZL1s

First of all the comparison of a stock car vs a modded car is kind of unfair, sure the modded car may be faster, but...it's still modded vs stock.

But if you don't care about the unfairness...a 5th Gen ZL1 will likely need 580-600 WHP and a driver mod, if it's the M6, to keep up and beat a 6th ZL1.

when the 10 speed autos be come available it will be a whole new game. I'll bet it will take more than 700hp in a gen5 to take down one of these

You may be giving the 6 Gen a generous rwhp number...All I'm saying is that the 6 Gen is getting all the props right now, and most people that buy them will not know of the true rwhp, they'll be going strictly off the crank numbers and will be scratching their ass when and old slightly modded 5 Gen walks away ...Fairness is not an option in the "Art of War"...lol

No he's right, I'm sure he was talking about crank HP. It will take more than 700 crank HP to overcome the weight and the 10 speed.
