Two mod questions
Right now, I have a Volant CAI and Magnaflow axle back exhaust plus a predator tuner. My question is this, are the following mods worth it or add much overall:
1) 160 thermostat 2) underdrive pulley |

underdrive pully is not a bad mod if you plan on not putting a supercharger in.

well then neither of those mods are a major increase. I think the pully gives 10 hp and thermostat just helps with the temp control.
you want some good hp gains then get long tube headers

Long tube headers is a future mod; I am wanting something now that is quick and easy to install. already have cai, axle back and tuner

You can always get the pulley now and take it off when you get the supercharger. I would hold off on the thermostat as it seems most of those are being put in when you start getting major mods done.

but is the benefit of the pulley worth the cost, i.e. price, time to install, etc. I mean, if it takes me 20 minutes to install and it provides a nice gain, I am game. But it takes me like 2+ hours to install for a barely noticeable gain, don't think its worth it.

I can't even talk the wife into letting me drop $2K to get a beater car to use as my DD; no chance in hell I could talk her into letting me drop $8K+ on a S/C. I wish....

2.) Wouldnt do this unless you are doing a cam swap at the same time. You are not going to gain that much with the UD pulley, and the time to mod vs HP gain is not worth it. |
