I've pulled the "I'll come with you guys, in my car, but you all have to get in the van..." At which point I am driving the cool car, and they're all in a raggety old van. All because - damn my car - ther's not enough room...

Hey there...old thread...New News! I remember some people wondering how the accesory mode and keyless ignition works together. Well, I was doing some research on the '08 Vette. Seeing as how it's only one year away from the Camaro, to look for technilogical cues. Well, everybody, I found some pictures that give a good hint as to how this goes down...
The first is a picture of the ignition switch. The "acc" stands for accesory. And I assume you push down on the switch to turn that on or off. If you do that, this'll be what you see. Notice (engine off= 0 RPM). |

I'll take one of those switches, please! No keys. No trying to get the key in the ignition and miss scratching the side of the steering column. Just push a button. I really like this idea!

So, did he push a button by the steering column or something and THEN push the button on the shifter?
Nifty!

Cool, I gottcha now. You push in on top half to start, push down to turn off, down again for accesory. Hey, that be great, I hope Camaro gets something like that. I wonder if they'll go for the remote start like every one else is going to?

That's freakin' Awesome!!
Anybody ever seen MIB I/II (Men in Black). "don't push the red button!" I was instantly reminded of that! |

I might be a little late for this, but I have driven a few Nissan and Infiniti cars with the push start button. My mom also has a new lexus where you never have to take the key out of your pocket or purse.
In all of these new cars, you have to press the brake for the car to start. If you just want to turn on the radio and other accessories, you push the button without pressing the brake. Then you can push the button again while pressing the brake to start the engine when the radio is already on. I hope that helps clarify.

http://www.carbodydesign.com/archive...ior%201-lg.jpg no key hole, and if you go to chevy's site they have a little site for the new camaro under upcoming cars, and the first picture of the coupe's interior has a little red bar with the words on and off on either side next to the ac and volume control, plus the fact that most all the corvettes have push bottons on them AND the camaro concept is suposed to be all futeristic and stuff, from my point of veiw, in the interior, so, it's a must, oh and, that mercedes(comeing from a mild mercedes hater) was pretty awsome Last edited by Just a Skidmark; 08-17-2007 at 04:02 PM. |
