I sure wasn't expecting these numbers out of a heavyweight car like the ZL1 is sure to be, awesome!

If the ZL1 sells for less then $54K, it's a real bargain.
Grab them while they last...

There'd be not as much reason to celebrate if the car was run on DOT-legal slicks. I say "as much" because you aren't going to be driving on wet roads with those tires nor will they last nearly as long. GM's been saying this is a car for everyday driving, so for them to make that contradiction (at least in my head) would take a little credit away from the facts. I would still like to know more details

See... All those people who complain ZL1, or CAMARO in general, can't before because of the weight I think just ate a little crow. Those people choose to ignor the achievement made by the aftermarket and their development cars, though, those aren't OEM like ZL1 is. ZL1 shows that while weight is certainly a factor, it's not impossible to entirely overcome. Sure, lighter cars will handle better, but those are closer to race cars than ZL1 is. So far, we haven't heard they've cut any amenities making this any less of a car one could enjoy every day. If you want a car you can enjoy, safely, everyday, that's going to cost in many ways, weight being one of them. Sure, ZL1 could go even faster with less weight, but that's just not the way it is now, so there's not much sense in crying over it for this generation. I'm certainly happy and proud to see GM invest so much for us

Shoud be around $50k, probably 49k to 52k base. Anything more than that, and it's CTS-V coupe territory (starts at 62k), and who in their sane mind would pick a Camaro over V I have no idea. Nurburgring lap is all good and stuff, but it's not a factor in pricing at all as it doesn't increase the actual value of the car. If the same car ran the Ring at 7:11 somehow, you'd think it would be justifiable to price the car at 80k? No. The car is what the car is. A tuned Camaro with bigger engine, that's all. No chance in the world it's worth more than CTS-V.

I was considering V until now, but if ZL1 turns out to cost around 50k, I'd consider losing
- style
- luxury
- prestige
- interior amenities (recaros, nav etc)

for about 12k savings (assuming there won't be crazy 10k "market adjustments" when it actually hits the lots)

If the price difference is less than 10k, it's simply not worth it. Same power (who really cares about extra 20hp in a 550hp car), same handling (in everyday life you won't use even 5% of its abilities, so any 5-10% difference in Ring time is meaningless), just A LOT less value for your money.
