By mounting the radar detector so close to the mirror, do you lose the auto dim feture?

I haven't lost the auto dim feature on mine.
Question though...I can't see anywhere to plug into the mirror. I don't see a panel to open or anything. Any help on this please? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Found a DIY on installing...no panel to open on the mirror. It's a little mor involved, but doesn't look terrible.
