As long as there are no major upgrades from 2012 to 2013 and no terrible "glitches" that plague 1st year owners, I dont see a huge depreciation in the 2012 ZL1. Actually they will be quite rare with such a shortened model year and down the road they should be more valuable in the eyes of most collectors IMHO.
Of course this is my opinion as I could easily wait 3 more months for a 2013 ZL1...especially since I already waited this long! |

What, there can't be that many already...oh wait, I just noticed there's a comma following 851.

GM has a whole fleet of CTF ZL1's running around. Here in Detroit I see them all the time. A month ago it was like, "oh man look at that" but now I have seen so many it's no biggie. The point here is they are putting miles on these cars. It is entirely possible that some small issue has been reported by enough of the CTF fleet drivers that they elected to address it. No big deal and should not give any of us concern. That is why they spend all of this money conducting such a validation program. We should all be happy with what they are doing. It is intended to provide us with cars that are correct. Personally, it really doesn't matter to me why they have stopped everything. Sure I would like for my car to get built next week and shipped the following week. It doesn't look like that's going to happen. I'm ok with that. It is still only May 8th. Spring isn't here yet. I would say the chances were probably high that if they didn't put a hault to things, and address whatever the issue is, that customers may have had to make unwanted trips to the dealer. I know it sucks to wait but I'm pretty sure it is for the right reasons. Keep the faith and hold the line Drake. By summer you will be cruising around in the black beast and all this waiting will be a distant memory. Peace, Andy |

Hey, it will make your insurance cheaper in a shorter time.
Are you planning on selling your ZL1 in less than a year? If not, why does it matter? It is to your advantage. All this conjecture, guessing and misinformation and conclusions are nuts. I can't wait for everyone to be talking about their cars! |

Just put it down as a "personal enjoyment" purchase that you are spoiling or rewarding yourself for all those hard-ass days at work to pay for it, and the ultimate "value" is how this car will fit you so nice and that supercharged LSA power will put a permanent smile on your face. The MY won't matter then If I were waiting, I would tell myself that the car is cancelled or not coming and get into something else to move your brain from the daily focus (like a big book or start exercising or something distracting) and then when you get the call/e-mail that the car is coming (which will probably be the 3rd week of March)....then you will get excited all over again! Easy for me to say eh But honestly.......checking in on this forum everyday or hour for shipping status would seem to be almost a masochistic thing to do to one self with this QC hold. |

I think any talk of a new car being valuable and collectible at this point is very premature. Most cars that have become valuable and collectible over the years have done so not because they were perceived as rare and collectible at the time they were produced, but have become collectible rather due to circumstances and how events have unfolded as the years have passed. Just about all new cars depreciate initially for the first 20 plus years of their lives, and whether they become collectible depends on how desirable they are at a given time, combined with their uniqueness. Given the fact that the ZL1s have very few options, most ZL1s are not going to be particularly unique from one another. I think that people's time will be better spent if they just appreciate and drive their ZL1s as they were intended to be driven, and don't concern themselves with any potential collector value of the vehicle 30 or 40 years from now.

Here's my .02. If you look up the definition of the word indefinite secondary word "undecided" is listed. Undecided and undetermined mean the same therefore indefinite and undetermined have very close meanings. When Aaron Gold crashed a ZL1 at VIR I did some research. What he said on his page was that he was not driving fast and was fairly straight on the recetrack and had the stability program activated. The track was wet with a lite drizzle. Maybe this has something to do with the software glitch.
