Question regarding BA audio system

Does anyone know what the power rating is for the amp in our Camaro? It's the BA system and I drive a convertible. Does the amp run all the speakers or just the sub?

I ask because I'm thinking of replacing the front door speakers and need to know if the stock amp will run after market speakers.

this would be better if it was put in the audio section.

however any aftermarket speaker will be an upgrade.

I believe that it is a 245 watt system. I am no audiophile, but it is the only option we got on our SS (outside of the only one that mattered - 1LE) and it sounds plenty good for me.

It's not too bad, just wanting some speakers that have more high end and clarity. What I'm really wondering is, what are the power specs for the amp? How much power is it pushing out to the front speakers, the rear speakers and the subwoofer. How does it break down that 245 watts? Is that RMS rating or peak?

I am the wrong guy to answer this, but I see why you want it, and would love to know myself. I will have to wait just like you!

I've actually placed a call into Boston Acoustics, so hopefully they'll be able to break it down. If and when they do, I'll post my findings.

Not sure on the amp ratings but I have heard of people upgrading the amp and running the factory speakers and having good results that way.

My BA system is stock but I added an enclosed powered sub and it's great for me.

I have the b.a in my 2013 ss and it is a total let down. Let me point out I DO NOT do the music blasting thing, nor the brain jarring headache inducing max volumn in the car. Compared to my Ford F250's stock cd with the premium sound there is zero comparisons as far as clarity and quality. I think this is about the only dislike I have with the Camaro actually

Are you guys using XM to make these judgements on it? I noticed the XM quality is pretty poor but using my phone or a CD sounds much better.

+1, XM doesn't sound that good compared to Pandora from my phone and no drop out! OP what brand of speakers are you considering?

I usually listen from my ipod. Haven't decided on a brand of replacement speakers. Any recommendations?

There are no subwoofers in the Boston system. You have 6.5" midbass/midrange speakers in the door, 3/4" tweeter on the top of the front door, 6" x 9" midbass/midrange coaxial speakers with a soft dome tweeter that is powered separately from the midrange/midbass, and a 3.5" center channel speaker.

The amp is a digital amp with 245 watts output. Can't really tell you the power delivery to each speaker, but I can tell you the factory speakers are rated at 2 ohms.
