Harbor Frieght DA...

This has been talked about before but I thought I'd show what it can do, using an old orange pad and over the counter supplies the results show what a inexpensive polisher can do for you. To show it can perform well I didn't even change pads, just used the pad brush to clean the pad a little.

This is aimed at the guy/gal who doesn't have the budget to spend two to five times more then the cost of a Harbor Freight DA, with a HF 20% off coupon you're looking at $50......even less if you have a 25% off coupon.

Now if you're making money doing detail work it might worth buying something a little nicer, for many here it might be something worth considering.

Great writeup. Just goes to show, for the occasional polish, cheap products will work just fine. No need to spend big bux.

For those on a budget the HF da will do a great job on the once or twice a year detail. You might add some Meguiar's m105 and m205 to your selection. Available at many auto part stores like Auto Zone and Pep Boys etc. Another option for those trying to not bust the bank might try other detailing forums that offer trading threads among members to get products.

I have better products, I used the products pictured to show the HF da can do a good job even with lower end products.

Did I use the two bucket method, nope, didn't even wash it.
Did I clay bar first, nope, polished as is.
Did I use two different pads, nope, just one old orange pad.

I just wanted to show that the occasional detailer doesn't need to spend big money on a polisher, for the money I think the HF da is worth a try. JMO

You got really lucky to not put some serious marks in your paint with no wash and no clay.

I agree that cheap products can do a good job but technique like that is reckless for novice or pro alike.

Not lucky at all, it's his 17 year old daily beater..so what's to lose. I really only wanted to demonstrate the HF da can perform well even when doing everything incorrectly, I sure wouldn't recommend using the method I used.

Pros- Cost
Cons- A little heaver then a Porter Cable da

What's to lose would be putting in RIDS too deep to correct. But alright.

I guess you did prove the point that if you were going to spend an afternoon correcting paint and were completely indifferent to the two outcomes of either improving the paint or completely ruining it, this is the way to go.

This just goes to show how important technique is, I tried the HF polisher and created a holographic mess, but it was my first time ever polishing. In the right hands I'm sure it works great as you proved.

Works for me, I have only used that. Now I have put swirls back into my paint so I'm just skipping the whole step and getting blacklight and dodo purple haze the or the BLACK kit from chemical guys. Until I feel like polishing again then I will either get the megs microfiber system or the m105 and m205 with hex logic white and orange pads, works for me.

Harbor Freight will have a sale going on August 12th through August 25th on there DA, $55 and with a 20% off coupon you can get it for $44....25% off coupon would make it even a better price.

Just bought mine 2 days ago. Saw that it was on sale online and asked the store to price match it from their website. Also found a 25% off coupon, printed that out ended up paying 41 and some change plus tax. Here's the link to the coupon if anyone is interested.
