Cool information!

I had an SS3800 in my '02 and it friggin' rocked! It totally transformed the car. The tranny and engine tuning was a little issue though because the TM would interrupt if there were any left and shift MPH/rev' limiter were trouble spots too. Also, getting the slip codes deleted finally got everything squared away. The car went from being able to spin the tires on a downshift into 1st gear below 30 MPH to spinning the tires up to a little more than 40 MPH on a downshift to 2nd.

Bottom line - IMVHO, is that a converter is about the best mod' to an auto' car that there car be. Just be sure to get all the tuning done.

Just a ? do you need a labtop to tune the Camaro or is there a handheld type device? Does the dealer do this type of work or only certain shops!!!!

You can use a laptop, however, you need the software to communicate with the PCM. I've used a handheld (Diablosport) and there are some changes that you can make, but ultimately, software like HPTuners and the like are whay one really needs in order to get into the meat and beans of the PCM. This software isn't cheap, however, it can help optimize the PCM to your specific combination. Every car is a little different to start with, so as long as you know how to tune you can get the most from your setup.

As far as a dealer, I don't know if they can actually change many of these settings. I know that they can manipulate sensors and check a bunch of functions and turn devices on-and-off, but I'm not sure about actual fine tuning and manipulating codes. Also, unless you actually know someone at the dealer, I think it'd probably be pretty hard to convence them to change the OEM settings for fear of liability. I've played with only some of these settings on my car with these dealer tools, but never actually tried to delete slip codes or 02 sensors and such I've only done some of that with handheld tuners and watched my tuner actually manipulate these things.

What he said.
Any plans of adding a tranny cooler. I've seen a lot of tranny's go south real fast without coolers.

no shift kit IMO... cooler they have them from the factory.. are they good eniugh maybe?? I won't add another, I only drive the car here and there, pluss I think the 6 gears now allow it to not lug as much or heat up..

negatives , only the warranty issue if you care. and the $$$ haha..

So when you approach 3600rpm does the Trans grab abruptly or does it gradually engage? Never driven a car with a high stall. Thanks

Itll only go up to around 3600 if he goes WOT.

Around town it wont really be changed that much aside from using a little bit more gas to get going.

IMHO, when you go WOT with a stall it feels really close to downshifting with a manual and then going WOT.

How big is the stock stall?

honestly I think with a 3200, you wouldn't even know it had a converter..

Guys, find someone in your area (at a hang out, a track, a neighbor) that has a stalled auto and take a ride in it. New converters are really good, and drive much like stock.

You can use a handheld, but why would you want to, NOTHING beats a good tuner using EFI live or HPtuners and dyno tuned.

AGAIN, your warranty will be gone if you do this, but without it, you will not achieve these much higher levels of performance without it.
