I basicly bought my 2015 Chevy Camaro and ever since i got it with 19 Miles I have been non stop raping the living shit out of it. Its now at 200 Miles.. Do you guys think I have caused any damage? Annddddd do you really think i should stop because its the critical time to break in an engine.?

I'd stop. Defends how long you plan to keep it

If you want it to make the full hp its capable of and don't want other problems down the road I'd stop. There's a reason they put the break in period on it. You probably haven't done anything to it but if you do that for the whole break in it may.

If you want to seat the rings properly you have to drive it hard for the first 500 miles. Make sure it is warmed up properly and then have at it. Use the search function and you will find a lot of threads on this.

It's a great question, but about 181 miles late in the asking.
I'd stop and follow the break in instructions. Might want to change the oil while your at it. Many on this forum will tell you to beat on it. If you want to keep it for a while, why take the chance? IMO.

Just the reason I am glad I don't have to buy used cars. You never know what the previous owner did to it.

When all else fails...read the instructions...aka....owners manual.....the engineers that wrote it have forgotten more about this engine than most on here will ever learn about it

Along the lines of what many people here would say about mods, paint, wheels, etc.... It's your car and your money - continue beating the crap out of it if you wish.
Seriously though - stop beating your brand new car. Read your manual and go by the break in recommendations. GM puts them in there for a reason. Since you plan to keep your car a long time, give it a chance to perform its best for you for years to come.

I would replace all fluids, engine, trans, rear end, and break in according to the owners manual. If your worried, have the eng oil analized.

I believe in the hard break in method. I drove mine straight to my shop from the dealer with like 20 miles on it and changed the oil to a non synthetic conventional oil. Ran it hard on that for 500-1000 miles and felt it get stronger along the way. My car pulls very strong and I've driven plenty other camaros to compare. It also uses zero oil between oil changes, and can consistently get 30+ mpg on the highway.. I'm a beleiver. If something breaks it's because its defective.
So don't worry I dought you've hurt anything.. like already said don't beat on it until it's warmed up and you'll be fine, have at it! |
