Upgrading the A.C. compressor

Since I put in the killer chiller the a.c. likes to blow warm at an idle when it's hot outside. Anyone have any ideas of an upgraded compressor or smaller pulley?

I would start by asking what your high and low side pressures are for a given ambient. If I understand this install correctly, you had to open up the AC system. Was it pumped down adequately and recharged by weight? And are the radiator fans working correctly? Bad A/C performance at idle is often a sign of bad airflow across the condenser or undercharge.
Assuming there are no glaring problems with how you put things back together, I would think new compressor or pulley is not the right approach to restoring good performance. You need to get heat out of the condenser. Maybe change the fan blades, install uprated fan motors, or install a bigger condenser in that case.
Interesting problem.

Pressures are good, I just checked them today. It was a little low so I added about a half a can.

What is good? What was your low side readings, high side and ambient temp. Also, if charged by weight, it could be undercharged as the system is now larger is it not?

I got the pressure as close as possible to good. Ambient air temp 75, low side 42 high side 205.

I wasnt aware that the new refrigerant was even available outside of the pro environment yet... i.e. you cant buy it at autozone, oreilly, napa, etc...

So what did you add "1/2 a can of"? R134a? Because thats the wrong freon.

Yup, you need R-1234yf.

Well, actually you probably need a few other things. Like a vacuum down and a system flush, maybe, probably?, a new orifice tube if you used the wrong freon.

Cars should have a sticker for refrigerant type under the hood. On the 6th inside the bottom side of the hood corner close to the steering wheel/left side of vehicle, right side when you are looking at it. (Varies by car model, my Honda and Mazda have it sround the radiator aroud or coolant expansion tank). They usually also have the capacity listed on that sticker, but some cars don't.

A proper Chiller system will have no effect on vent temperatures. Jrs580 Email me if you want to know what is going on.
