Illegal Lights?

I was wondering if it were illegal in some places to change the headlights of the car. I currently have the stock RS white halogen lights, but I feel the car would look pretty bad*ss with blue or red head/fog lights. Anyone know if its illegal to drive around with them (more specifically in Indiana)?

well WE can assume you are talking about the DRIVING LIGHTS.... not the HEADLIGHTS. and you will find out that is IS illegale to put RED AND/OR BLUE lights on the front, those colors are "reserved" for emergency veheicles.

Yep, pretty certain those would be illegal in any state, even colors other than blue or red.

Yes, if you have the RS, you already have the bright white HID headlights, as opposed to the yellowish halogen lights that come on the non-RS cars.

You change out the stock bulbs to a higher color temperature (i.e. to get the blueish tint) - check the lighting forum for specifics...

I got the legal schpeel from several state patrolmen back in high school when I had lights on my car. White in the front, red to the rear, and amber all around....everything else is illegal....atleast in Iowa

I wanted to get green show lights put on my truck when I first bought it in high school. Boy that would've looked stupid in hindsight! But seriously, anything but amber or a shade of white is illegal in any state I believe. You could probably get away with yellow or blue tinted headlights.

@Shuffler - man that glowing chevy sign in the back of your car is pretty damn pimp. I like what you did there.

Yea its pretty lame that its illegal - but I also see how it could be an annoyance to other drivers.

No it's not lame it's to avoid confusion and prevent people from easily impersonating emergency vehicles. Peoples lives are put on the line every time you turn the lights on when your on duty, at the very least your own. Not to mention impersonating officers to commit crimes of all sorts. I've seen a few cars on the road over the years that I know are not undercover, doing stupid things out there including hidden sirens to get people to move over.

Amber is legal for the park function (what the halo is legally defined as). They can be white or amber and you can have 2 or 4 of them.
