12.54@111 no cool down...bone stock automatic
Just wanted to report my automatic ZL1 1/4 mile time. Best et was 12.54@111 with a 1.92 60'. No traction issues and I launched fairly easy. I put the tires down to 25psi and ran with traction control off and in track mode 5 with no differences. Yes, I tried to manumatic shift it also and it ran exactly the same. In auto, it was shifting well before 6k...more like 5.5K. The temp was 90ish degrees and muggy with DAs around 1950ft. A little underwhelming but ok considering conditions and no cool down.

Oh yeah....weather was miserable and it was at Richmond Dragway. Most people are too proud to post such garbage times but I'm not. I will gladly post better times when the weather gets cooler and the mods I'm planning are installed. Just in case someone else runs this slow, you know you aren't alone. I actually got a 1.85 60' on a botched run where I shifted early into 3rd. Stock tires respond well to a little burnout and lower air pressure.

Well kudos to you for not being afraid of posting your time. Id say that you really shouldn't be embarrassed considering thats the same time that Hennessey pulled, and it does about seem to be what the car is about, but wow at the 111.
I mean this car is suppossed to easily be able to handle 120 but so far no one is getting it. Hard to swallow considering the 500 is pulling 15 mph faster than that. |

It was sad to never see the car tested by Motorweek or InsideLine. They both do a great job, not just testing, but reviewing/showing the car. It looks like the for a regular driver the ZL1 is a 12.5 second car. I am glad you posted your run, and don't care what people think.

Over and Over again... how does a 580 HP, automatic, run 12.5.......... something is not adding up... something is holding it back... if you look at all the SS with with bolt-ons and supercharges (http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21013), with about the same amount of HP, they seem to be running faster.....so what's the deal? I'm really starting to think something is wrong with this car.....

I agree. That's only 2 tenths faster than my stock auto 5.0. I'm not bragging but I agree that something is not adding up. Last edited by TheReaper; 05-25-2012 at 11:10 PM. |

Redline went 12.39, then 12.24 first time out before mods. Just work on the launch |

No offense to the OP but with all of the hype surrounding the car I considered trading my Z06 for one, I am pretty relieved I didn't
Something does not add up at all, the car should be a 12.0 car even in the DA you ran in.................. your 60' was even decent!

I believe this is what the QC hold was over I don't see how the the ZL585 (a SS with a supercharger) runs 11.5 (same as 13 GT500) and the ZL1 runs 12.5 I think the ZL1 is leaving A LOT on the table |

It should be able to do a lot better than that, according to some people around here it ran a 12.1 in a DA of around 5,000.
