Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the ZL1 wheels ARE cast aluminum,

but they are Rotory "Forged" which in theory gives GM the right to say they are Forged.

It can be misleading....or am I completely wrong?

When I saw the ZL1 in Oshawa the wheels didn't look like they were machined from a solid piece of billit....the looked cast.

Anyway PQ, if you get the Forgelines from Nineball, you will never have to talk about wheels ever again.....unless of course you want to tell everybody how awesome they are...

...and avoid your addiction to chrome plating. Chrome adds weight, and are impossible to repair when damaged - without having to rechrome them. Keep a layer of automotive wax on the bare polished aluminum and they will repel water and won't dull.

That, and even some of the best brands have had chrome peeling issues. It can be avoided by avoiding chrome.

Good stuff. I would have no problem avoiding the chrome. I need to keep the cost down.

PQ, The Forgelines in Nine Ball's avatar are almost done right The correct way is to have the inner barrel match the finish of the outer barrel.

It only takes a little longer to clean and polish them

Polished aluminum is the best but keeping them looking new

I'd definitely do the polished aluminum. As long as it's shiny.

From me to you for your new wheels.

Step #1

Step #2

Step #3

Step #4

Finishing touches for your order.
  • Have the valve stems run through a fastner hole
  • Flush mount TPMS sensors
  • Titanium hardware to save weight
  • Lightening pockets in the hubs

Oh, another nice thing about the Forgelines is that the TPMS sensors mount like they do on the stock wheels.

Only on the stepped lip Performance Series. Like yours. The lighter ones.

I say voilate #2 a little bit and get these... Nine Balls price is cheaper than what I quoted earlier...

P40SC forged Monoblock . No worries about 3 piece wheels leaking either... and get them in any finish or color you want...

sometimes you DO get what you pay for...
I know HRE from a project in 2004 and polish

Tony, thanks for the correction. I didn't realize that.

I just know that those "other wheels" I had were a pita to mount the sensors.

Stepped lip wheels also don't do the rain-wobble dance. Water doesn't get trapped behind the spokes.

Can you tell I prefer stepped lip wheels?

I find the stepped lip wheels are MUCH easier to clean than my other wheels were. The water just runs off. No puddles (like you said) AND the finish stays on the wheels when I wash and polish them.

Did I mention that the car is tons quicker with them too?

Flat lip will be just fine.

I'll try not to race in the rain.
