Camaro V6 "performance" package....GM please take note.

UPDATED: SEE bottom of post

So this thread is really not much more than a rant from me. I don't normally go on rants, but I thought this was worth sharing, and then I have a question for you fellas...so I guess there is a useful purpose here lol.

Found on MotorTrend:
Quote:
A lucky Mustang fan won a three-year lease on a 2012 Ford Mustang after entering a contest to rename the V6 Performance Package. Ford first announced the “You Name It” contest on the Mustang’s Facebook page in November 2010 where more than 3,000 submissions were received and voted on. “Mayhem” came out on top, submitted by a North Carolina resident.

The Mustang Facebook page currently has over 1.3 million fans and Ford saw an opportunity to cash in on the pony car’s popularity. “The contest was twofold,” said Brian McClary, Ford social and emerging media specialist. “It let us engage with fans by letting them have a say, and it helped build awareness for the package.”

The contents of the newly named Mustang Mayhem Package improve handling dynamics and include a few Mustang GT components (front and rear stabilizer bars, brake calipers, and front and rear shocks and springs), a 3.31 rear axle for quicker off-the-line acceleration, unique badging, 19-inch wheels, blacked-out side view mirrors, reprogrammed stability control, and a rear lower control arm pulled from the Shelby GT500. The Mayhem Package costs $1,995.

Mayhem beat out other possible package name submissions such as “Stampede”, “Mustang Sally”, and “Thouroughbred.” What do you think of the new name and what would you have named it?

Source: Ford
Now, I would go out to say that anyone with the money who wants the best performance from factory should and likely will just buy a V8 and overlook any V6 option.

That said...Ford does the above for its buyers whom may not be able to afford the GT...or maybe for those whom like to think "its just a V6 thing" as many of us here do. Now, here you have a car that can be bought likely in the mid to middle upper 20K range capable of mid to high 13s and handles great with good brakes to boot. Mucho respect.

Lets say Chevy offers this same package...except with a 3.45 or 3.55 ratio. Same price. Would you have bought it or not? (don't forget to answer the poll question above as well!)

EDIT: and I realize this package is not for everyone. I can see many if not most V6 buys being OK with the regular performance and softer ride from the standard stuff. Just thought a poll would be interesting!

Thanks all!

Update:

Now Dodge is doing a performance package for its Challenger V6! Higher horsepower, better suspension, and good looks!!

Come on chevy....what you gonna do!!??

i say nope. I personally bought the LS to modify to my liking. Most aftermarket performance parts are better than any OEM performance parts.

I knew someone would be giving that answer as well! I can totally see that, but you have zero warranty issues either.

I think an option to upgrade the gears to 3.73's should be included

yeah, but chances are, if you buy the performance package, you'll also want to upgrade the intake, headers, exhaust, etc. Pretty much the same things people do now.

Factory gear option, and why not a factory turbo or SC option.
Anything with an warranty to back up is no brainer. I def would have got the performance pack(if there was one.
Think about it, how many of us opted $1900 RS option? I did.
