Camaro dies after thorough TB/manifold cleaning HELP!
So I cleaned my TB and intake manifold with the CRC TB and air intake cleaner. I think I went overboard...very overboard. I was very generous when applying the cleaner. I went to start it after putting it all back together and now it idles extremely rought for about 2-3 seconds then dies immediately.
I reconnected everything, I'm 100000% sure. I keep reading that I flooded the cylinders. What do you guys think? What should I do? thanks! |

Try pulling all the spark plugs and crank it to see what comes out of the spark plug holes.

More then likely ou went overboard, if you take the plugs out the excess will eventually vaporize unless you messed up the o2sensors I would not worry just yet, I agree if u pull a plug or two out and crank it see what comes out .
I think you should follow up with an oil change after she is up and running |

ok I will take the plugs out. If this doesnt work, then should I leave it overnight? or what should I try next?

well it started and idled for a bit, then got really rought again, then died. seemed to have gotten better though for a little while. I am going to leave the spark plus out over night and try again tomorrow morning

Yes let it vaporize overnite, you have a bunch of cleaner running past the o2 sensors throwing everything off as well. It will run a little rough in the morning butt should smooth out after awhile. Do you have any white chalky crust look to the plugs ?

That's good ! That should mean there will be no buildup on the 02 sensors either. How much did you spray in there! Lol. been there done that way back years ago with another model and worried sick over it for awhile. You will probably have to help it along with the gas peddle a bit.

A LOT! Probably like 6 oz of me spraying it over and over. There was sooooo much oil in it. Im ordering a catch can and new air filter right now.

Have a stiff drink . Just keep this in mind, it's not something that can't be rectified easily, it's not mechanical, you just have the wrong mixture in our combustion chamber and your computer can't figure out whatthe hell is going on. If it was a 69, I would tell you to rev it and blow that crap out of there when it is rough idling. But now with all this computer stuff, that's a more difficult proposition.
DON'T FORGET TO CHANGE YOUR OIL RIGHT AWAY after she gets running awhile. |

ok I would do anything if it would run ok. And I did try to blow that crap out of there already! hahaha
I will update you as soon as I get a chance to start it tomorrow. Just to make sure for tomorrow, I should put the spark plugs back in and then start it, right? |

WOW!!! You took the plugs out!!! When you say you cleaned out the intake manifold, did you take the top off, the part that is held down with 8 little bolts and 4 bigger bolts in the middle, and wipe it out with a cloth or paper towel, or just spray the cleaner up into it with the throttle body off? I take the top off and spray the CRC and wipe it up. I spray a little down the manifold tubes, that I can't clean with a cloth. If you just sprayed it in there, all the built up oily residue got sucked into the cylinders, nullifying "cleaning out" the intake manifold. I hope everything works out, check the DIY section.

Yes that's what I would do. If it dies, start it again....
If it still runs rough, then I would take a look at your mass air flow sensor. |
