Charging question

Just got back from a long trip, 6 hrs total.
I noticed at highway speed the volt gauge hangs around 12 volts. While at lower speeds, say under 40 mph it hangs around 14 volts.
Air on, Iphone plugged in to usb and gps plugged in.
Sound normal? Didn't seem to change if I unplugged the gps. Runs fine no other symptons.

it's normal. under certain conditions the alternator turns itself off to improve fuel efficiency. kind of freaked me out the first time I noticed it too. was on vacation 600 miles away and noticed the voltage dropping from 14 something till it got down to about 12.2. thought either the battery or alternator was going.

I just had the same discussion because I installed a radar detector that had a low voltage warning and it kept kicking on. I ended up turning that option off since the voltage bounced up and down so much.

Not stressed over it, just seemed odd. Running fine, starts fine, all electrical good. Just after 11k miles never really noticed it.
Cool, thanks all for the quick responses!
