To the everyone who removed/replaced the back bowtie

Hey guys,

If any of you have removed and replaced the back bowtie: did you remove all of the left over tape or did you just place the new one over the old adhesive?

If you did remove the tape, what did you use?

i havent personally removed the rear bowtie but i know leaving the access glue will definitely create an uneven install of a new emblem. and as far as removing the access glue just heat it up and spray goo gone or any kind of adhesive remover that wont hurt the paint.

I removed all of the adhesive with goo gone on a cold day(bad idea). Use some heat and make your life easier.

Yeah, I heated up the embem with a hair dryer, and removed it with fishing line. Then I removed the remaining adhesive with Goof-Off. You can get it an any hardware store or Wal-Mart. It's good stuff to have around the house, anyway.

Hope this helps.

I removed my back bowtie using a hairdyer, light fishing line and goo-gone to clean after followed by waxing.I also removed camaro name on each side of the car the sameway.First it drives me nuts when i am cleaning or waxing the car.Second i think people know it is a camaro.lol I painted my stripe instead of a decal too.easier to keep clean. Next i will have ZL1 painted on instead of emblems.just me.lol

Another really easy way is to use a rubber wheel and some adhesive remover. You can get a rubber wheel at your local auto part store or paint supply shop. Got mine at pep boys.

Not a bad idea to put a strip of painters tape along the bottom edge and sides for reference if you are replacing it. I used a hair dryer, heated up a corner and kept the heat on the edge as I slowly lifted/pulled. Nothing left behind, the adhesive stuck to the emblem and not the car. Nothing to clean up, and I still had the tape to set in my Black Aluminum Bowtie in the same exact spot.

I did this when replacing my "Camaro" emblems on the side with black ones.

Good advice.
