NKorea threatens US

They hate us. It could get dangerous.


There are really only 3 options.

1. Make them not hate us. This is the one hes NOT counting on and could turn the country on him.

2. Disarm them. Only option if Kim actually does something worthy of turning N. Korea into the next addition to South Korea.

3. Live with it. In which case you see weakness. I refuse to believe the President is powerfull enough to stop N. Korea from finding what they need to build these weapons.

Second, Iraq was something unprecedented in that we employed a preemptive strike. Though the original stated reason for going to war with Iraq was to disarm the weapons of mass destruction, none were ever found. As the commonly spoken phrase goes, those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it... do we really want to barge into North Korea and "disarm" them, only to have another occupation on our hands?

So yes, at least we are in agreement that waiting is the best option.

Yea then I bet China and Russia will be the first to the line calling us imperialist and attempting to get the UN to sanction us.

It can be effectively argued that since the fall of the USSR that the US is Imperialistic due to its power in the world economy, the control it has over oil and its forays into both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Maybe not to the degree that Russia, England and China have been, but non the less, still the dominate presence in the world today.

A huge part of the problem with that kind of power is that it is turning the US into the World Police Force.

This is not something new. The changing of the guard (England to the US) happened in the Second World War.

There was a balance of sorts the whole time the USSR had the power and control over their sphere of influence.

When the wall fell, there was a huge vacuum and the US had no choice but to fill it.

This is what is wrong with isolationism in a global economy.

It did not work for the US in 1939, and it wont work in 2009.

Iraqistan was a mistake IMO. I can understand if we'd gone in with much, much smaller numbers I mean highly trained teams with a total of no more than 2000 and attempted to pick off the taliban quietly, we would be out already and probably safer. But occupation is not a good short term plan and with the way we went about things it couldn't have really ended up any other way. Either the country would put us in charge or we'd someone end up running it indirectly. Fighting us isn't really an option, we're kind of an irresistible force.
