tire frustration

so i am ordering new wheels in a 9 wide front and 10 wide rear, and finding a tire to suit my driving style is driving me up a wall.......
so im almost forced into a shorter sidewall for the performance tires i want, anyone done this? or had/have any bad experience with a set that is only 27 inch diameter overall?

what tires are you looking at?? on a 9" wide wheel, you could run the same size as the stock rears.....275/40's. Thats is what I'm doing, I'm running 20 x 9's all the way around.
