Anyone's leather seats getting chips in them?

I bought mine in Feb 2010, and it mainly sits in the garage all the time. It only has 1900 miles on it.

I go to get in and put some gas in it yesterday and on the drivers seat on the left side about where your elbow would lean against the leather while sitting and there is a chip in the leather about the size of this letter "o". Anyone else notice this on their leather? And if so is this something that the dealer will cover and replace under warrant, seeing as how it's only one minor spot, but it's in an area where you're touch getting in and out of the car and will spread bigger.

Well I took "bumble bee" to the dealer, showed the seat to the guy I usually deal with, he said it's above him to make the call on to replace it or not. So get the manager, whom I know as well (keep in mind I live in a small town, and I work in the auto industry and deal with them for others peoples vehicles). He looks at it and says it's not a manufacturer defect, so I asked if he thought I did it. He stated no, so I said well the car has under 2k in mileage, and sits in a garage all day most days, I didn't do this so it must be a defect. His reply was the seat cover will not be replaced, but he'll have their leather guy "color" it. I said no thanks, I'll contact GM. So I left

I went home, call the 800 # for chevy and talked to a very nice lady. Explained what was going on, and she said she'll call the dealer and put me on hold. While I'm on hold with chevy, I get a call from the dealer, saying well let us atleast try to repair it first and then we'll see where it goes from there. I explained no, your manager already told me he was just going to have the spot "colored" which is no acceptable to me. He kept going on and he sounded frustrated (odd timing with chevy calling them) and I finally said well if I let you try and "fix" it, and I'm not happy with the repair, then what, his reply we'll take it one step at a time. To which I take as well that's all your getting thanks for calling and getting chevy involved. So I get back on the phone with the rep from Chevy and she tells me she can't get a hold of anyone ins service, they must have gone home for the day. So I told her that the service people called me and I told her the conversation while I was on hold with her. She said that seemed interesting, I agreed. So she said she'll call first thing tomorrow and get the district manager for Chevy involved and I'll hear back from them tomorrow.

It'll be interesting to see what happens....

I'd say you probably snagged it with something ... Also the Leather is where your butt and back are, not around the outside that part is vinyl ...

I'm very careful about getting in and out of it. I'm sure there is nothing I snagged it on. And if it's vinyl, that's ok, I still want it replaced, I didn't damage it.

My SS with IO leather is now showing some wear/wrinkels on the drivers outer backrest where my backside hits when getting in my car. Almost 8,000 miles and one year old- I'll chalk this up to early PATINA and worry about something else...Lifes too short.

I've got the tinyest chip at the edge of the leather on the drivers door. It's been there since it was new. I never gave it much thought.

Are you in the desert of Southern California?. And if so are you putting any kind of sun shade in your windshield when parked?. Constant high temps and direct sun can cause that. I'm originally from the Antelope Valley (High Desert of Los Angeles County) For 22 years, I dealt with that issue and cracked dash's if I didn't keep a sunshade in the windshield. If none of the above applies, then, I refer to Revo's Post
