Recommend a pistol for me
I know there have to be some gun guys here that can help out. Nothing bad has happened to me... Just something to keep in the house when I move out of NYC to California. I don't anticipate riding around with it (don't know if that's even legal in CA). Cost isn't a real concern; quality and heft is. And preferably something my wife could be comfortable using after some training. Don't turn this into a 2nd Amendment discussion if you can help it. Thanks-

I carry a glock 27 with laser grips...I love it, but too much for the wife. You could use a glock 26 which is 9mm, or try out the Kahr 9mms. The Kahr is very slim, and VERY reliable. If you want something with an actual safety on it that is another story.

I'm against glocks. I prefer something steel. But if heft is important, I guess you have no choice. Personally, if you;re not going to be riding around with it, I say get a 12 guage. That way if someone breaks in your house, all you have to do is basically point at the door and pull the trigger. At 3 or 4 in the morning when you're in a dead sleep, it's kinda hard to be accurate with a pistol...jmho.

Good point.... nothing like a good short shotty for home defense. Thats what I have for my wife while im deployed....she barely has to aim...just pull the trigger

Exactly...not to mention the sound of the shotty getting cocked is usually enough to scare anybody out of the house (clik clik)

Sig Sauer for the win w/ Crimson Trace grips.
And I also like Kahr from Florida. http://www.sigsauer.com/ http://www.crimsontrace.com/ http://www.kahr.com/ Last edited by Vash; 04-03-2009 at 10:59 AM. Reason: added urls |

Yes very scary in the dark but IMO, if you have a gun for home defense it should be loaded at all times.

Just pick up an M4 off the webs for about 1,500.
Kidding. In all seriousness, I'm a big fan of the glock 26. - Xanthos

Another vote for Sig Sauer. Great Defence weapon. My wife and I both have one.
However in CA, it is nearly impossible to get a concealed weapons lic. So you won't be able to leagaly travel with it loaded in the car or within your reach at all.
