408 LQ9 build
Dear All,
I am in the process of building an 408 LQ9, which should be ready in couple of weeks. hence, I just want to see if anyone in this forum have worked with such an engine before and knows it's capability. Just highlights on the long block: 1) callies Drangonslayer crank. 2) Callies Billet H beam rods. 3) -20 wiseco pitons 9:5.1. 4) ARP main and head studs. 5) clevite rod bearing. 6) PRC 260 CC heads. 7) 229/237 .615/.622 116+4 The list goes on.I am satisfied on how the vendor is guiding me through the project. However, wanted to check with you guy if you had first hand experience with such an engine. While doing my research I came to know that this engine has proven itself capable of doing high horsepower under boost. my aim is to live in the 750-850 RWHP via D1sc. As per the parts I have chosen I think I can go a bit higher than my goal (which it is nice to have, but I won't go north of 900 RWHP) any advise on the build or the limitation of the engine would be appreciated. I have all necessary part ready for when the engine arrives i.e LT, 102 fast intake with TB, ID 850, LPE dual pumps and Alky methanol system. Thanks guys can't wait for it to be completed.

Well I've seen a 88mm stock lq4 with 317 heads and btr stage 3 turbo hit 850whp on a dyno before and the lq9 built should be able to handle 900whp easy with a proper tune.
Who is doing your tune? |

Crank that bioch up. You will have to upgrade to a return style fuel delivery though to be safe.

Engine can take all the power you can make with a DS1 and more. I would ditch the fast intake and put that money towards fuel system or other upgrades. A stock intake will work fine.

people are making around 1000whp with e85 on bone stock lq4/9s
Id build a stock block car and make sure everything is dialed in before building a forged motor. Also at 750+ maybe think about moving up to the F1 prochargers? It will be a beast regardless - good luck with the build |

Seriously....... way too much internet in this statement. 1000 RWHP on bone stock. I would have to say if you pushed that like it was meant to be pushed, it would not last long.

Not your exact setup but I hit 819 to the wheels in my TA with the setup below: I think youll have plenty more room with that setup then youre looking for. I wouldnt run that FAST intake and put that money elsewhere.

408 LQ9
I have a similar setup, single 82/84 mm top mount turbo, E85 only, have hit 1140 rwhp so far, dialing it down a bit for the texas mile in a few weeks
