Oil pressure sensor

Remote started the car today then unexpectedly it shuts off the check engine light is on and I get the code that the oil pressure sensor is bad , the oil pressure gauge still sweeps back and forth.

It may need to be replaced. It is fairly easy.

That's exactly what happened to me right after my engine swap. It was on a remote start too and I was like 'why did my car just turn itself off?'
Luckily it was the sensor. 4 Pack gauge showed ZERO pressure. After I replaced the sensor the one thing I noticed is that I could not get it to show pressure on the 4-pack gauge until I cleared the code.

If you look online you will see that the 0523 code almost always points to the sensor itself, but I was nervous since it was a new engine and pulled a valve cover to check the pushrods for oil.

Is there a specific torque for putting on the new sensor or is it only finger tight?

26 lb ft.

I never torqued mine though, I just made sure it was good and tight.

I'm having trouble pulling the connector off of it is it a squeeze and pull connector?

I believe it has one of those white/gray plastic safety clip locks on it that have to be slid or pulled up before you can get it off. Once the clip is moved up you can squeeze that spot and lift it off.

You can see it in this video:

Ok I lifted the white clip up and I'm feeling around the connector and can't find any place to squeeze it.

You may have to get a mirror to see the tab that needs to be pressed. There is no clip that needs to be removed. I just took this pic with a mirror so you can see the clip that needs to be pressed. It’s right in the middle on the flat side. Maybe this will help.

They have a clip that lifts before you can press. Yours is missing. They easily pull off or break.

Glad you got it man. It can be a pain in the ass, especially if you have big hands.

You mean to tell me my plastic clip didn’t last ten years, what kind of crappy plastic do they use now? Jk. Mine hasn’t had a clip since I have had it. Guess it was gone before I got it.

Lol, I've lost some of my other ones too. For my evap, those little white squeezy clips, one flew off at supersonic speed when I touched it.

Man, when the guys at GM installed my sensor they left the tab that you press to pull it up and off....directly facing the back of the intake. I can't get to the tab to press it in, not even with a small screwdriver etc. I'm stuck after already spending an hour on it, might have to figure out how to unscrew the sensor a little so I can get to the tab. Thanks whoever put that in at the factory, what a cockup.
