I wonder how many Camaro's are made a day .... then if mine was 2,944 in the order line.... maybe I could figure the day mine would be made.... just thinking out loud.... LOL

Can't wait!!!
I was trying to figure that out myself. This may be totally off, but here is one rationale: Chevy wants to sell 80,000 units in the first year. There are roughly 250 work days a year if you assume a 5 day work week and 10 days off for holidays. That means the plant would have to crank out 320 Camaros a day to meet their target. 320 a days means they could fill this week's orders in 2-3 weeks after production starts.

I have no idea if it is even possible to build 320 cars a day - it sounds like a lot. But that is one way to calculate it. Someone want to chime in?

Piece of cake at Oshawa if it has 3 shifts.

Haha, that's awesome. Thank God car manufacturing has become so automated and AI-driven, because back in the late 70's, 320 cars a day would've been nice for GM but not for the customer since quality would've sucked. Workers tired after awhile and their performance dwindled. You'd have had poorly-assembled interior trim, mis-welded body parts and misaligned body panels.

My dealer has 12 allocations and I was #1.
I ordered Saturday and by close of business Monday, they had ordered 6.
All cars ordered were SS's

I actullay surprised that ONLY 3,000 have been ordered.
I guess that's good for all of us that ordered. We should all get our cars March/April at the latest, especially with a plan of 2,000 units a week production!!!!

Said all of that would be done when the car gets there.

Hey you guys, I know a secret way that GM could increase their Camaro Sales by almost a full 10%!!!!

OFFER THE SS IN BLUE!!!

Since they sold 2944 Camaros so far and so far 273 people said "No Blue, No Sale!" in the poll, it looks like they're really doing sales a disservice by limiting the Palette.

I wonder if they have one of those "reward" programs at GM for people that come up with ideas that generate large sales increases. In these times of 20-30% declines in sales I think my suggestion for increasing sales by 10% is HUGE. I should get a bonus, or something cool like a free car!

Come on GM, even your logo is BLUE! Don't hate on blue!

I wonder if all these early 'sold orders' are going to be processed first.

What I mean is this....

My dealer has an allocation of 6...I'm number three.

Since the allocations are through Q3 09....are they going to stagger when each of the dealers can receive their allocations...or do the sold orders get processed first followed by dealer inventory orders?

I don't want to be the first guy on the block...but I'll be irritated if I'm waiting for my car in June of next year and the dealer down the road has them sitting on the lot....

Its possible to build over 320 cars in a single shift. I've heard that it takes less than a minute from one car rolling off the line to the next. Oshawa is regularly the most productive plant in North America. Also, its a bit misleading to base it on how many cars GM wants to sell because the Camaro model year is going to be about 18 months.
