What should I pay?
Hi everyone - I am new to this forum. I have been saving my pennies and am now very close to purchasing an SS1 or SS2 here in Sacramento.
The only new cars I have ever bought were from a friend who is a fleet manager at a Toyota dealership in my area. He was able to get me some great deals on Toyotas. My question is: What should I expect to pay in relation to MSRP on a new Camaro? Is it possible to negotiate a lower price? Like I said, I have never had to deal with a salesman before and would like to know what to expect when I go to a lot. Thanks for your input. |

Well the down economy puts the power in the hands of the buyer however these camaros are selling pretty well so that kind of mitigates some of that advantage. All salesmen are not created equally so you have to find one you like and that will help. I went to 5 different dealerships before I popped and several of them were full of it. I actually had one put a dip in and spit in the trash can at one. I'm not a fan of chewing but I really don't care that much but I was put off by the lack of proffessionalism.

The biggest thing is do your homework and shop around. With the internet you can find prices anywhere in the country.
I saved a couple of grand buying mine at a dealership 250 miles away. Good Luck!! |

+1 i looked around for about 3 months before i picked up a used 2ss/rs with 24k miles for a negotiated price of 30k +fees / tax, etc. i found wrecked cars for around 23k, and 1ss's for around 28k. this was 4 months ago. |

I currently have a dealer who is looking for the car I want - a 2SS automatic with the RS package. He says he will sell it to me for $200 over invoice.

most people are getting around 1,000 off MSRP, some are doing a lil better, some are doing worse.
Also there are a couple rebates out there to take advantage of |

Nothing wrong with 200 over invoice. Just say "Yeah I'll pay 200 over invoice, show me the invoice"

Car is about 3% off msrp for the car to get car invoice price Options are about 12.5% off msrp for their invoice price http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...=156750&page=7 Invoice is nice as they still make money...invoice + 100-300 is the most I would go...but hey if you like it, work with them as they need to make a profit which helps all of us in the long run... |

So I bought a 2SS with the RS package for $37,715 at Maita Chevy in Elk Grove, CA. It was the best deal around.
